Chapter Sixteen - Princess

Christine's pov :

" so what do you say?  "

I couldn't believe myself , John said he missed me and when I told him that I like him he said he likes me too , it sounded so surreal and so good to be true . My heart almost stopped when he kissed the corner of my lips , it was so unexpected,  he called me gorgeous and he asked me out on a date , I wanted to scream and jump with happiness , but that would probably scare him off so I just grinned and answered him " sure ! "

Clap clap

I looked behind me and was met with a grinning Aaron coming towards us with Joseph who looked so confused , heat rose up to my cheeks making me look down to the sandy ground , I felt John stiffen next to me and when I looked at him I found him already looking at me with a hard look , his lips pressed together , forming a straight thin line, any other stranger would be scared of him but that wasn't me, i didn't know why but I was amazed by myself for not being scared of such powerful and influential person

" should I be worried ? " He whispered only for me to hear

I shook my head and pressed it against his hard chest , I giggled and whispered back " no he's my friend " he nodded and I felt his body relax

" uncle Aaron, why is the man hugging aunt Christine? " I heard Joseph ask quietly

" when you get old enough , I'll tell you . Okay ? Now let's go home " he said , Joseph nodded

" you take him and I'll take her with me " I looked up at John with wide eyes , what did he mean by going with him ? I trusted John and I knew that he wouldn't do something I wasn't comfortable with.  Aaron looked at me for confirmation and I nodded , smiling reassuringly " you can go Aaron, I'll call you tomorrow " I pulled away from John and missed the warmth that John's body gave , I felt so warm and safe that I wished to stay there forever . I hugged Aaron one last time and whispered in his ear " I want good news only , okay ? Go tell her how much you like her and make her yours " I pulled away and bent down to kiss Joseph's both cheeks after giving Aaron a reassuring smile , " bye aunt Christine "

They waved at me and I waved back , I definitely took a liking to Joseph , he was such a sweet kid " bye sweetie "

" bye Aaron " I said and took my sneakers from Aaron , dusting my feet from the sand , I put my sneakers and rolled down my jeans. When I stood up , I didn't find John but when I turned around he was right behind me , he was so close that if i leaned in our bodies would be touching, in a small step he was right in front me , his breath fanning my cheek , my heart was beating so fast I thought it will jump off my chest , and butterflies were roaring inside my stomach , he kissed my cheek and held my hand

" let's take you home " he walked to the place where he was sitting , there was a bag that seemed full of snacks lying next to a large rock, he grabbed the bag and we both headed to his car , holding hands and I couldn't help the smile that reached my lips

Comfortable silence filled the car during our ride home so I decided to cut it " I'm sorry for what I did that day .. "

He shook his head and held my hand tightly , electricity rushed in my veins and my body warmed instantly " please don't say that , if it is anyone's fault it'd be mine , I gave you the wrong idea and I'm sorry for that " he apologised and I reached for his hand with my other hand , holding it tightly between mine, it was really warm and it fit so perfectly like it belonged there " it is not your fault John "

He groaned and averted his gaze from the road to look at me, his blue eyes holding so much desire and admiration  " please say that again "

I laughed and said it again " it's not your fault "
