School the next day was...different...so to say.
Since Katski and I were on good terms now, I found being in the same classes as him more enjoyable than not. He kept me entertained with his sketching in History, and in Music, the two of us actually worked together on the composition piece we were all given to practice.
Needless to say, it was much better being around him than before. But, no matter what, he refused to tell me any more about the 'date' he was supposedly taking me on later today — even when I threatened to throw a pencil at his face, he just laughed at me and repeated; it's a surprise, with that annoyingly bright smile of his.
I swear, I almost did throw my pencil at him — in spite.
However, after dismissal, Katski didn't waste any time grabbing me by the arm once we were off school grounds and breaking out into a run with an excited smile on his face as if he could hardly wait. We hadn't exactly talked about our school life, and how we would act around each other — since this whole being 'mates' thing was supposed to be a secret. But I would say, with the way we adapted to each other today, we were going to settle for playing as 'friends'. The problem wasn't so much with letting it show around the mortals, since I didn't really give a damn what they thought about it — but I also wasn't the only werewolf around. And being the alpha's son drew more attention to me than I cared to admit — maybe the reason why I hated it so much. If word got around that I was seeing someone, believe me, mutts would start getting curious and asking questions — something that wouldn't play out well for either Katski or I.
Despite my better judgment, I let him pull me by the hand. Usually I wouldn't have let anyone drag me anywhere, but since it was with him, I didn't mind so much. Besides, I guessed exactly where Katski was taking me the closer we got, from the sounds of mortal screaming and the bright lights flashing ahead.
"Tah Dah!" Katski said, doing a motion with his arm to reveal the setting before us. The smile never left his face.
East Wood County Fall Fair.
How could I have forgotten? East Wood always held a huge fair around this time of year, Maia and I even used to go a lot as kids — but I hadn't been in years.
I stared up at the scene, most of the large roller coasters rides and stuff catching my attention, along with the smell of different carnival foods.
"So...what do you think?" Katski asked slowly, looking at me with a slightly nervous smile.
"This is so cliche..." I murmured with a chuckle.
"Do you not like it? Cause if you don't we can do something else—" Katski suggested before I cut him off with a roll of my eyes.
"The hell you talking about, Kitty?" I said, giving him a look to tell him to stop being so nervous. "We're not going anywhere."
His eyes brightened. "Really? Sweet!" he said, doing a little fist pump in the air. I rolled my eyes, again.
"Anyone ever tell you you can be a bit of a dork sometimes?"
"Hey! Don't be an ass!" he protested.
"Yeah whatever," I muttered, flashing the werecat a slight grin. "Well, come on then."
