A prisoner in the castle of time, I roamed
I had entered through the door of life, I felt bold
An amount of time was given to me and I was told
That the exit was called the door of death and that I could go.
There were many rooms in this castle, I had been told
But they were interconnected, I couldn't see what lay in store
Some of those I knew sped along, others took it slow
We didn't know where was the exit, so we kept doing our chores.
I met many friends who I still hold close
Made many memories, both warm and cold
But at the entrance to each room, I was told
To leave what I didn't need. It was optional, not forced.
I did as I was told but I still held on
To those painful and bitter moments I had once come upon
When I finally reached the door of death, I was forced
To leave everything behind, I had to let go
As I looked back I realised, if I had let go
Of those painful and regretful moments I had once owned
I would have lived my life better, but oh no!
There is no more time left for me, I must go!
