Chapter 14: aftermath

The next thing Tony heard was Hulk's roar. It had woken him up from a very uncomfortable nap. Despite what some people think, the suit isn't that comfortable, especially to sleep in: it kept your head above your body, it kept your joints locked, and it was solid steal, it would be more comfortable to sleep on hot coals... okay, that was an exaggeration, but give him a break, Tony had a splitting headache, his entire body was sore, his chest hurt, and he was kinda worried one of the guys had just kissed him trying to resuscitate him. Luckily none of them had, Hulk had just roared and woken him up. He'd have to take the man out for a treat. Happy had tried to get him to try something called Shawarma a few weeks ago, maybe he'd go for that?

Thor, unfortunately, was a party-pooper and informed them they weren't done yet. Tony had just been thrown out of his tower (100 stories?) fought an army of aliens, he'd flown a Nuclear Missile into space, AND he had fallen probably 200-300 stories to the ground from said space... Or at least that's what he thought, but now that he was thinking more clearly, that thought didn't make much sense to him: he wouldn't have survived that fall, even with the suit. He'd have to get JARVIS to find some footage of what happened. Anyway, Tony had just done all that shit and Thor, of all people, was trying to get them to do even more? What else could they possibly have to... oh yeah. Tony would have face palmed if he hadn't been in the suit. Reindeer Games was still out there. Fuck. Well, they'd better get to have Shawarma after words.

Tony groaned as Rogers helped him to his feet, the suit wasn't working so the weight was all on his beaten up body. But Tony quickly restarted the suit and they all went up to the tower. Loki was just getting up when they got there. Everyone looked confused as Loki asked Tony for a drink, but Tony dismissed them and ignored the downed Demi-God. Loki was easily captured. Thor looked sour as several SHIELD agents came to pick up his brother.

"Come along brother." Thor said, grabbing Loki's bicep.

"I'm not your brother!" Loki snapped.

Thor, being Thor, Didn't bother to listen to his brother hiss at what Thor called him.

"Well, Thank you for your help, and deeply apologize for the Mischief  my brother here has cost." Thor paused. "Back to Asgard where you'll face father.." Thor growled and yanked Loki, in response Loki hissed. Tony, in the background, watched the sense play out; Tony huffed almost stopping himself from laughing. The team watched as Thor was doing his magical shit and disappearing with Loki back to Asgard.

"Went from happy to growling..." Tony whispered.

"Remains me of us...right?"

By the time Tony got back to the tower pepper was there with red eyes, red cheeks and a sick nose. "Pep..."

Pepper whipped around so fast that you swear that wasn't human. "Tony...Tony! Oh my god, I saw what happened. I'm so sorry" Pepper hugged Tony. "I'm so, so sorry. I should have answered..."

"It's okay pep, but...I wanna tell you something.." Tony said. Was he right? Could he tell her? He's a mutant, with telekinesis. What will she think of him? A freak? A monster? They been dating for 2 and half years.

"Ya, what is it?" Pepper asked.

Tony hesitated moving his eyes around the room hoping someone would walk in. Pepper knew, saw, Tony move his eyes looking around the room. Pepper was confused. Did Tony have a secret? A bad one?

"Tony..what is it? You can trust me" Pepper said softly.

"Uh-um..I'm a-".

'Sir, you have a phone call' Jarvis interrupted.

'Ah, thank god' Tony thought. Tony moved past pepper, leaving there hug.

"Tony-".

"I'll tell you another time, pep!" Tony said. Walking to his lab he looked up and noticed pepper leaving the room and closing the door. Tony sighed. "Who is it J?"

'It's Mr. Charles, Sir'

"Ah good, was gonna call him. Jarvis make sure no one gets in and soundproof the lab so no one can hear"

'Right away, sir'

As soon as Jarvis did that Tony excepted the call.

"Hello?"

"Ah, Anthony it's good to hear you again" Charles said. "We saw what happened, everyone's concern about your safety..." Charles paused. "Oh and we saw what looked like a big green created catch you.."

"It's good, really good. I've been tired that's all..and that was a friend of might..Bruce banner aka the hulk"

"Well you should be tired flying a missile into space that's crazy..."

"And you should be free to go, everything's back to normal."

"Well that's a problem"

"Why? Did something happen?"

"No it's just, the kids love it here and they also asked of your coming by, they wanna meet you. Hank is in love with Jarvis and all the technology here, Jean won't stop looking at the view of your house, Ororo May have promised the kids your coming by...Scott's been walking around the house and playing around and Logan found your beer" Charles explained.

"Wow, well if they wanna see me. I guess I'll coming over"

"No you shouldn't"

"Why?"

"You're tired and need rest"

"Find! I'll come by tomorrow...morning"

"Good, now i won't tell the others, it'll be a surprise" Charles said.

"Okay, bye Charles"

"Bye anthony, get some rest"

Charles hung up leaving Tony in an empty lab or maybe tower. Tony left his lab, telling Jarvis to lock it down. Tony sheepishly walked into his room, taking his clothing off. He thrown himself into his master bed, but making sure not to wake up pepper who was sleeping peacefully, he pull up the covers. He lap there for a good minute before the sleepiness overtook his body, his eyes lazy, exhaling before closing his eyes.
