HEADCANON: watching the sandlot

it's a pretty boring day in the spring season of 1993

the off season had just started for them, and they've got nothing to do

so they're just lounging around the mall of america

that is until averman suggests they watch the sandlot

jesse immediately protests, as he knows he won't like it

fulton is skeptical, but he agrees

everyone else just wants something to do so they go back home to get some cash

when they come back, averman is talking to the usher

"they owed me after i covered their shifts, don't worry about it!"

they're secretly worried

it's averman, what else would you expect?

anyway, since averman got them the tickets, they all contribute to buying snacks

with the exception of goldberg, who sneaked in two sandwiches from the family deli

adam pays for the popcorn, and he asks if charlie wants one, but he declines, saying that he could just share with him

spoiler alert: adam regrets it later

connie pays for drinks, which they need a lot of, luckily it's only six dollars for all of them

guy pays for the candy, which is really easy considering only averman, goldberg, and himself want it

jesse doesn't even want to be there in the first place so he doesn't buy anything

fulton buys a pretzel and they're all settled

surprisingly, there's not that many people

the only other people in there were maybe a few teenagers, and peter, who couldn't be on the team anymore, after moving to another district, and the commute was too far, which is why he's there every once in a while

they wave at him and take their seats, front and center

as far as seating arrangements go, it was really hard, because one wrong seat and wham! you're kicked out of the theatre

so, in the first row, it's adam, charlie, goldberg, and jesse

in the row behind them, you have fulton, averman, guy, and connie

finally the movie starts

and wow jesse is really into it, but he would have liked it more if averman stopped talking, though the entertainment of guy making a move on connie brought him back up (and maybe stealing one of goldberg's sandwiches)

connie was super into it she didn't even notice

she was probably staring at benny rodriguez (adam totally teases her later on, he stopped after she "accidentally" smacked him)

fulton also really liked the movie, and maybe he would watch it again when he's alone, and he realized that the kenny denuñez kid looked a lot like jesse

jesse doesn't see it

adam is in love with the movie, as is charlie

but adam wished he had more popcorn because charlie ate it all by the time scotty loses the signed baseball

they were super distracted by the movie so adam couldn't really stay mad at him

overall, it wasn't such a bad idea after all

they talk about it a bunch and reference the movie, like their own little inside joke

the group even tried baseball at one point, but after the accident fulton and averman had, they took a long break from that

that is until they met team usa a few months later

luis mendoza, #22 from miami, florida is introduced

and all hell breaks loose

adam and averman are just teasing poor connie ("good looking skater" "connie, you're only saying that because it's benjamin franklin rodriguez!")

the rest of team usa literally is in relief because they thought the same thing

this is literally how they got along

poor luis is so confused cause he doesn't see the relation

more hell breaks loose, but jesse is praising him because they are in the same boat

so, while they were in la, the free time was spent all over the city, and finding a park to "teach" luis baseball, but really it's just averman trying to prove luis mendoza, #22 and benny rodriguez (or his actor, mike vitar) are the same person
