HEADCANON: adam & connie as best friends

you guys, i fully support this friendship, though there's no evidence, this is why we have headcanons

i'm not too sure on how they get close but it was probably cause adam defended her against iceland during one of the games he couldn't play after the team hurt his wrist at one point

they probably say something really sexist just as connie heads into the locker room, and knowing adam, he just wants his friends to be able to be themselves while doing what they love, and connie loves hockey, so she plays rough, but she's really just a soft, badass human being, so he supports that wholeheartedly

she's shocked someone could say that to say the least

and since it's halftime when they say that,

adam was legit about to deck someone, and that's really shocking cause he's a pretty even tempered guy

"you can't just say that dude!"

he literally yells that out as one of the iceland goons skates by

at this point team usa is skating out but they see adam face to face with their enemy

they don't understand how the referees aren't penalizing the guy

connie is s h o o k

like, it takes a lot of guts to defend someone in front of a whole stadium of people, much less someone he rarely even talked to

so she really appreciates that a lot

the game begins again and by the time it's over, they lose 12-1

bombay gives them drills after he snaps

and it kinda sucked because connie couldn't thank him then

by the time drills are over, they all walk back together but connie and adam are behind them cause she wants to thank him

"thanks for that, it meant a lot out there"

poor boy, he's so sleepy

"hmm?"

"for defending me, and i know we're past peewees, but i really am sorry for not getting to know you. you're a cool guy"

"it's really nothing connie, you're my friend. we don't talk much, but you're my teammate"

"well, maybe we can work on the talking part. we can get to know each other more, in return for the trouble of you defending me"

"aren't you with guy?"

"not like that! all these boys are rather idiotic, with the exception of guy. i wanna know what it's like having a guy best friend"

"the majority of our team are guys connie"

"you're missing my point!"

anyways, they're totally the best of friends

they hang out one on one a lot, and they're so soft for each other, we stan oof

they will have sessions and just talk and talk and talk

"did you see what charlie did with linda today?"

"no i didn't but that's why we're here apparently"

"don't act like you don't like having these conversations adam!"

you bet their arses that they will defend the heck outta each other, but also playfully threaten one another

there was this one time they didn't do that for a while because she accidentally punched adam in the nose and he had nosebleeds

"adam give that back!"

"but it's from your darling lover boy, guy!"

"oh come on, i don't do this to you!"

"that's because i don't have a darling lover, dear connie"

and wham! that just happened

but there was this one time when they had just become the eden hall bears, and he got accepted into varsity, someone insults adam's skills

let's just say she was on the bench for a few games

but he cheered her and the team on anyway, even if varsity made him sit down

she really only returned the favor ;)

there's so much love in this friendship that everyone thinks they're dating

heck even guy believes it

but nah, connie's only got her eye on guy

and guy understands it, they all do (even if jesse teases them for the fun of it)

they're literally the embodiment of a wholesome friendship
