6/9/2017

When Trent woke the next morning he was so convinced that last night was a dream - or maybe a nightmare - he wasn't sure which. But he knew it was real, the butterflies he had told him that, the nerves that were already driving him insane did too

He didn't know how he had expected her to react to his kiss but he had really hoped she would feel the same but it turns out she didn't. Trent took his time in dragging himself out of bed to shower, change and pack before leaving his room

Ella was already in the dining room eating her breakfast with Kasey, Lara and Emily at a table. She glanced over at Trent but the blank expression on her face didn't give anything away

"Why's Trent staring at you?" Lara asked

"Probably trying to think of something annoying to say," Ella shrugged, trying not to say anything that could give them away

"Will you and him ever stop arguing?" Emily asked

"Probably not, we haven't gotten along for 12 years I don't think playing for England will change that," she said

"Well I hope you don't," Kasey said "It's funny for all of us," Ella smiled

"I think Aidy would disagree with you,"

"Probably," she nodded "But I can't wait to play against him, prove to him once and for all that Chelsea's the better team,"

"As if," Emily, who played for Arsenal scoffed

"London's Blue init?" Ella retorted with a smirk

"Speaking of, are you excited to go back to the prem?" Lara asked and the others nodded

"Absolutely," Kasey said

"You just want to go back so you can oggle James Ward-Prowse," Ella teased and she blushed while the other girls laughed. They had all finished eating so Ella went back to her room to quickly finish packing

She threw on her Chelsea jumper and took her bag out into the hallway, but as she left her room so did Trent opposite hers

"Hi," he smiled nervously

"Hi," she nodded, wanting nothing more than to walk away from him

"Ella," he sighed "Are we actually just ignoring each other again?"

"Trent I explained this last night. You and I don't work, we never have and now it makes even less sense," she said

"How do you know if you won't try?" he asked and she sighed

"Just imagine it then, we're together, it works and we're happy and then we have to play against each other at least twice a year," she said "We'd argue and fight, we wouldn't be able to see each other let alone live together, the whole world would be involved in our relationship,"

"I don't care," he said "I don't care what people will think, that doesn't matter to me,"

"But it matters to me," she argued "Yes us being together may be the only way we stop arguing but you cannot say you don't enjoy annoying me,"

"I'd enjoy it a lot more if you could say you like me,"

"Well maybe I don't," she crossed her arms and he went silent, there was a tug at her heart when she realised what she had just said "Trent, I didn't mean that-"

"Don't worry," he snapped and turned around

"Trent," she grabbed his arm "I didn't mean that, you know that,"

"Then just say it," he lowered his voice, almost pleading but she shook her head

"Trent I can't," she whispered "We both know it's better if we go back to how we were before,"

"Okay," he nodded "Friends?"

"That isn't what we were before," she teased and he chuckled "So then I'll see you around,"

"Yeah, we'll be back here for my birthday I hope," he smiled

"Don't think I'm going to get you anything," she warned "Maybe I'll buy you a Chelsea poster so you can see a talented team for once,"

"I can see that at my own training ground," he argued "Enjoy wearing that shit blue shirt again,"

"Better than your awful red one," she retorted "Arsenal's invincibles and United under Ferguson were the only good teams in red,"

"Did you just admit that Arsenal were good?"

"Before I came along," she grinned "Now London's blue,"

"You can't keep saying that to defend yourself," he laughed

"Just statin' facts," she shrugged and checked her phone when Tammy texted her "Alright I'm heading home,"

"Bye Beckham" he chuckled

"Bye Alexander-Arnold," she called over her shoulder and went outside to where Tammy was waiting by the car that came to pick them up

"Where have you been?" he asked

"Arguing with Trent like always," she said with an eye roll and got into the car after him

"Of course," he chuckled "I swear I've never seen you get annoyed at anyone like that,"

"He starts it," she shrugged "I can't wait to get home and see Mase and Dec,"

"I know me too," he nodded "And Leah of course,"

"Oh yay I'm back to being the seventh wheel whenever we all hang out," she rolled her eyes

"Then get a boyfriend," he teased and she gave him a look "I don't stop you dating I swear,"

"You do," she smiled and he laughed

"Looking out for you," he shrugged

"I don't want you to go back on loan, can't you just get some talented and join me," she teased and he laughed

"I'll try," he shook his head in amusement "You'll see me next international break though,"

"And I'll have to see scouser as well," she sighed "I'd rather see you sometime when there isn't someone on my nerves 24/7"

"Trent isn't a bad guy you know," he chuckled

"You keep your beliefs and I'll have mine cheers," she said

"20 quid says by the end of next international duty you won't mind him," he offered

"Deal," she shook his hand "Get your wallet ready,"

"Yeah right," he scoffed
