[ Chapter Fifteen: A Mother's Wedding ]

AGE: 17

[[A/N #1: Got this inspiration for this chapter when I was rewatching How I Met Your Mother when Lily was getting married to Marshall {Season 2, Episode 21: Something Borrowed} ]]

WE HAD BROUGHT MOM outside to the back garden for her to take a breather and relax. The actual ceremony would take place inside the Genovian Consulate in a bit. I was hoping that Mom would relax since I had noticed she was pacing around, dragging the bottom of her dress to pick dirt and grass despite my grandmother's warnings.

"Oh, my God!" I heard my Mom gasp in surprise causing me to turn around to see what she was looking at

"Lily, you're not supposed to see me." Patrick told her numbly as they met each other halfway, grabbing her hands

"Holy crap, I don't think anyone's supposed to see you." Lilly commented once she caught the sight of Patrick with paint splatter on him, especially on his tuxedo

"What happened? Did the boys do this to you?" My mom questioned him as Jeremiah and Michael finally stopped walking to stand beside him

"They cleaned my face and did their best with my hair. I did it, I'm sorry baby. I ruined the whole wedding, haven't I?" Patrick asked her making me sigh in relief that Jeremiah and Michael had nothing to do with this mess

"Oh, no, you didn't ruin the wedding, honey. It was already ruined. The flowers are in the wrong color, no photographer. Oh, and some of your students are here, by the way." Mom informed Patrick with a heavy sigh

"Yeah, I know. I heard." Patrick also sighed heavily before lifting his face to stare at her once more

"My veil got lost; the piano player is in labor, and I forgot to pack my something old." Mom continued to say and I frowned, wondering how many things could go wrong today

"What? Not the girls' grandmother's necklace?" Patrick questioned her with a worried frown, leaning his head so that his forehead touched hers

"What happened? Remember the wedding we wanted, the intimate outdoor ceremony?" Mom asked him, changing the subject so that she wouldn't cry once more as she had done earlier in front of Paolo

"I wish we could have that wedding." Patrick told her quietly as he rested his forehead over hers for a brief second before they parted

"So do it. Get married now. Right here. It's outside as you always wanted, intimate, close friends and family. There's no guitar but it's pretty close. The Dowager Queen Clarisse can officiate." Joe pointed out to everyone who was outside

"Yes. Yes, I can." Grandma told them as she went to stand closer to the group so we could all hear her response

"Can we even do that? I mean, what about all those people in there?" Patrick asked them hesitantly, glancing at the consulate

"Do that one, too." Charlotte piped in from behind me causing me to jump slightly since I didn't hear come up behind me

"And then when everything goes wrong, you won't care because you already had the real wedding out here." Adolpho added afterwards making me stare at him in shock at his blunt words

"What do you think?" Patrick asked my Mom quietly but his voice was hopeful as he stared down at her

"I love it." Mom confessed to him just as quiet as he was and Patrick started to smile at her words
