'Cause all the kids are depressed
Nothing ever makes sense

I am still feeling anxious about the thought of Harry hearing my father yell at me while Harry and I were on the phone the other day. Guinevere, Dawson, and Mike are the only people who know about my family situation. That is three people too many, and one of them, kind of has to know since they are family.

My father is getting progressively worse, and I will blame that on the fact that the anniversary of my mother's death is soon approaching. It's about to be eight years without her, you would think that he would move on a little by now.

I finish eating my quick snack I made in the kitchen, checking the clock on the stove to see that I have to get ready and leave for work.

I clean the dishes I used and put them away before heading to my room to get dressed. I quickly throw on my usual black skinny jeans and dirty white low-top vans. I then throw on my work t-shirt and look in the mirror before I head out the door.

Right before I left my room, I realized I can't wear this t-shirt. The bruises on my wrists from my dad the other night are still noticeable. With my realization, I shuffle through my drawers until I find a black long sleeve shirt to wear under my work t-shirt.

Once I am all dressed, I make my way to my car and start heading to the music shop.

I walk through the front door of the shop once I got there and saw a happy Mike training a new employee at the cash register. "Hey Mike!" I say to him as I walk up to the counter.

"Ah, my little gingerbread! How are ya kiddo?"

"I'm good Mike." I lie with a light laugh. "So, who is the new girl?"

"This is Natalie, she is going to be filling in some of the gaps in the schedule so I can work a little less. I'm getting old, I could use some extra time to lay on my couch and cuddle a bag of potato chips."

I laugh at Mike's statement before turning to Natalie. "Hi Natalie, I'm V." I say kindly as I extend my hand to shake her's.

"Nice to meet you V, I am excited to get to work with you. Mike mentioned how great you are." Natalie rambles.

With her words, I turn back to look at Mike. "Trying to kiss my ass, Mike? You know all you have to do is ask." I retort sarcastically with a smirk. "Well, I am going to go clock in. I'll be back in a second." I add as I start to walk to the back.

I clock in and throw my small cross-body bag in the office before heading back out to the counter where Mike and Natalie were. "That was a long second." Mike says as I make my way behind the counter, standing near him and Natalie.
