I don't care to know the hour
Cause it's passing anyway
I don't have to see tomorrow
Cause I saw it yesterdayHarry is beside himself.
I think Fred is officially in a medically induced coma.
I can't believe his last words were, "I've always been a stubborn son of a bitch." Actually, I can believe it. I wouldn't expect anything less.
God, I'm going to miss that man.
It's been five hours now since they started the morphine drip and Harry has been practically mute and glued to my side.
His mother, father, and sister arrived a few hours back. But I haven't put much effort into talking to them. My main concern is Harry.
I did have his sister Ella run and get us some food though once they got here.
We skipped breakfast in our rush to get here this morning and lunch time is far gone. I'm hungry, and I know Harry is too. But his body probably isn't processing that right now.
Anyone could walk into the room and just tell that Harry is numb and has dissociated. I actually had to feed him. And the nurses asked me if he needed medical attention.
Harry and I haven't moved from our spot of sitting at the foot of the hospital bed. And the broken look in Harry's glossy eyes hasn't left either.
Seeing him like this is breaking my heart.
Side note, I think that hospitals should start putting signs on rooms when, I don't know, patients are like fucking dying?!
There has been two incidents with idiot doctors and nurses that damn near made my blood boil.
The first one was with Fred's stupid ass kidney doctor.
The man literally came in to tell us that the cancer looks as though it has spread quickly and that there is nothing he can do.
Also, he asked if we wanted him to prescribe Fred some antibiotics.
Yeah because antibiotics would really help right now.
The second incident was with a nurse.
The girl actually came in and asked if Fred would be wanting his dinner tonight.
All I am saying, is that hospitals really need to consider the concept of a 'do not disturb, busy dying' sign. Because I've about had it with these, as Harry would say, bloody wankers.
Just let us grieve in peace.
"Harry," I say, nudging him slightly to get any ounce of his attention. "I have to use the bathroom. I'll be right back."
The moment the words left my mouth, Harry tightened his grip on me and snapped his gaze to me with frightened eyes. "The bathroom is in the room, Harry. It's ten feet away. I'm still here." I reassure him.
