Aleesha looked through the glass screen door onto the backyard. The boys had decided to host a small pool party for fun and everyone was outside playing in the pool or in the small slides they had hired for the babies but Aleesha wasn't feeling it. She stood in a baggy shirt and some shorts, her hair done up in a bun atop her head.

What Richard's mother has said a couple days ago still stuck fresh in her mind like a brand marking. She never spoke to Richard about it hoping to god that he would bring it up or speak to his mom himself about it so things could be cleared between them. The air was thick between them. No one wanted to address the big elephant in the room in fear of upsetting Aleesha or disrespecting the elders so no one spoke about it or made a joke about it.

Richard noticed the change in Aleesha's attitude, in terms of how she dressed and how little she spoke. Aleesha opted to stay inside the room, avoiding Richard's mother at all costs and although her own mother was flying in on that day. Richard walked into the house with the last of the supplies that he had been sent with Kat trailing behind him. He looked to see Aleesha staring distantly at everyone in the backyard

"I'll catch up with you" Richard said looking over at Aleesha
"Uh Richard my arms arn't like yours" Kat said struggling under the weight
"You'll manage" Richard said waving her off

He staggered over to Aleesha, wrapping his arms around her torso slightly jolting her out of her daze. Aleesha moved out of Richards arms towards the staircase only to be stopped by Richard grabbing onto her wrist. She finally met his eyes to find him giving her puppy dog eyes.

"You've been avoiding me like the bubonic plague, please talk to me" Richard pleaded
"I have nothing to say to you" Aleesha said meekly
"C'mon princesa, i can see the empty look in your eyes, please tell me what's wrong" Richard asked again
"I'm just tired okay" Aleesha lied
"Nena-
"I'm serious" Aleesha said simply shrugging his hand off her and leaving to go upstairs

Richard sighed and joined everyone in the backyard, he sighed and sat next to Zabdiel who was playing with Theo who was sat on his stomach while he lay on his back
"What's with the sigh man" Joel asked approaching them "i'm the one fresh out of a break up"
"I feel like my wife is slipping away from me and i don't know what to do man" Richard sighed
"Dude are you serious?" Zabdiel asked him
"What?" Richard questioned
"What your mom said the other day.... that's got to have hurt" Joel said
"Oh she didn't mean that" Richard shrugged
"But Aleesha doesn't know that" Joel pointed out
"Look dude, she's probably looking for you to address the issue, speak to your mom or speak to her" Zabdiel advises
"Please, i'm kinda tired of eating breakfast in my room because of the tension" Joel said
"i tried talking to her but it's not working" Richard said
"Ask Ray, her and Aleesha been real close lately maybe she knows" Joel shrugged
"Honestly i think you should do this yourself instead" Zabidel shrugged getting up "It's not easy but it's better"

Zabdiel got up and joined Aaliyah who was attending to the grill while trying to make sure Christopher didn't mess up the sauce as well as accidentally grill her daughter.
"That's not how you're supposed to grill sausages but because you're my soon to be wife i'll let it go" Zabdiel said to Aaliyah
"And how exactly do you do it master chef?" Aaliyah asked
"Horizontalmy so that you get the perfect grill marks and the juices just-
"this is starting to get weird" Christopher piped in
"i can agree" Aaliyah laughed slightly
"Zabdiel get her!" Erick yelled just as Ray ran past him "you really are useless"
"I'm not you" Zabdiel clapped back as Erick ran past running after Ray

He eventually caught her in his arms, holding her kicking and screaming over to the pool
"Say it" Erick said
"No!" Ray yelled
"Say it or i'm dropping you in the pool" Erick threatened
"No please" Ray pleaded
"Then say it!" Erick said "or imm tickling you"
"Fine fine, you're the sexiest and nastiest papi in the world" Ray mumbled
"we didn't hear that ma'am" Aaliyah yelled out
"Bitch i'll shove my foot up your ass" Ray yelled at Aaliyah
"I'll let you off the hook for now" Erick smirked letting her down with a cheeky slap to her ass
"Get a room you two!" Erick's mother yelled
"Sorry mama" Erick apologised

Sienna waddled over to Ray and Erick, Aaliyah trailing behind her happily
"nana" Sienna said making grabby hands up
"You want up?" Ray asked her
"She wants this" Erick smiled giving her a banana "uh uh, what do you say?"
"Thank you papi" Sienna said before receiving the banana
"What?" Erick asked Ray who looked at him puzzled
"How did you-
"You left for an entire day, what exactly did you expect" Erick laughed
"Correction, a night but i'm glad you're bonding" Ray smiled
"I mean she may not be my own flesh and blood but there's something about her that makes me happy" Erick smiled soulfully
"So does that mean we can keep her?" Ray beamed
"No, we still have a lot to talk about mamita" Erick sighed "and she's not a puppy"
"Getting all daddy defensive on me?" Ray smirked
"No i'm-
"Foods done!" Aaliyah yelled snapping the grill fork

Everyone made their way over to the table they had set up in the backyard. Salads were passed around the table as everyone dishes up before Richard's mother asked where Aleesha was and pointed out that she hadn't seen her for days. Ray opted to get her, getting up and jogging into the house. She walked into the dimly lit room to find Aleesha curled up looking at her phone

"Leesh, for how long are you going to sulk?" Ray sighed
"As long as Richard's still his mother's dog" Aleesha answered
"Girl, c'mon that's his mother and you know how hard it is to stand up or talk to your mother about issues concerning your relationship now imagine poor Rich" Ray said
"I don't care Ray! she openly insulted me and none of you spoke up on it" Aleesha snapped
"Okay woah! what was i supposed to do? make her apologise?" Ray asked furrowing her eyebrows
"Stand up for me!" Aleesha yelled
"I'm going to need you to tone all that 3 notches down and find your chill because i'm not about this yelling shit" Ray said calmly
"And what are you going to do about it!?" Aleesha asked standing up
"I'm actually going to leave because i know you're not squaring up" Ray said turning on her heel

She went downstairs and left out to the back to inform everyone that Aleesha wasn't joining them but before she could get a word out Aleesha came downstairs, hands shoved in the pockets of one of Richard's hoodies. She sat herself down next to Richard and said nothing. Richard's mother directed her attention off of her grandchild to look at Aleesha

"I havn't seen you in a couple days Aleesha where you been?" She asked
"Upstairs" Aleesha mumbled
"Hiding away from your problems?" Richard's mother probed

That's when Aleesha had had enough, she slammed her hands on the table and got up, looking Richard's mother dead in the eye and before she could get a word out Richard had already put a hand over her mouth. Aleesha ripped his hand off, looking him dead in the eyes

"I get it. I a hundred percent get it but i'm tired of coming second best to your mother" Aleesha seethed
"What do you mean?" Richard questioned
"Wha- what do i mean?? i mean that you never stand up to your mom when it comes to me! you always let her talk shit about me and you never come to my rescue or address the issue" Aleesha snapped
"Technically she only spoke shit about you once" Ray said quickly shutting up when Aleesha shot her a look
"What do you expect? You want me to make my mother apologise?" Richard asked
"Address the issue!" Aleesha snapped "simple! stand up for me or lose me"

With that Aleesha pulled her chair out and left the backyard, grabbing her keys. Deciding it ultimately better to have a drive and cook herself off rather than stay in the house.

"This was some good barbecue damn" Christopher said with a full mouth
"Shut up" Ray said
