"Lena!" Violet shouted. "Defensive spell maneuver eight!" She shouted out as she flew towards Grave's plane with incredible speed.
Lena walked up to Violet and put a hand on her shoulder as her amulet that was now merged within her instead of around her neck started to glow brightly, as did the rest of her body and her eyes. Louie and Webby watched in awe as Violet began to glow too, both she and Violet's magic merged with the plane itself making a huge force field around the plane and turned it invisible.
"W,what? How -?" Webby asked, coming up beside them.
"We, We've been practicing combat magic ever since the whole moonvasion thing with Lunaris." Lena said, breathlessly.
"C,Can you keep this up until we make sure we lost him?" Violet grunted at her.
Louie noticed sweat pouring down her face, and her face was flustered. Lena looked like she was about to pass out but nodded all the same.
It must take a lot of magic to do what they were doing. Louie thought as he glanced out the window of the plane. Graves had turned the plane back around and had paused midair. Probably confused by what just happened, and how the Cloudslayer could have disappear so quickly. Louie sighed with relief.
"I wonder why he's after us." Louie told Webby. He looked down at the hard drive he was holding. "It wouldn't be because of this, could it?"
Webby bit her bottom bill and when she didn't answer him, he looked up at her.
"Webby?" He said, seeing the nervous look on her face. "What aren't you telling me?" He accused her.
"I, It's n,nothing to worry about, really." Webby insisted. "I, I mean, you have me, Violet and Lena..." Her voice trailed off as she glanced over at Lena who was still busy keeping the plane in it's unusual state. She wouldn't be able to back up a lie even if Webby tried to tell one to Louie, who can sniff one out like a hound dog. He had tried couching her into lying once, it didn't work out so well, and she was still terrible at lying.
"Webby.' Louie pushed out her name like he would do if one of his brother's were irritating him. Louie raised an eyebrow at her and frowned before she looked back at him and heaved a huge sigh before sitting down on one of the passenger seats.
"It just, Lena and I've been talking, and, and we think Falcon Graves might be coming after you." Webby told him.
Louie stared at her.
"W,what?" He stammered. "Why would he -?"
"It's just, that, he's done taken Dewey and Huey." Webby said, quickly, "and with him showing up just now, only makes us wonder if he's after you too..."
"A,after me? Why would he want me? For once, I didn't even do anything! Dewey got captured cause he had been annoying to the wrong person. Huey got nabbed because he knew to much!" He backed up from Webby, his heart pounding hard against his chest. "I, I'm always the last to know these things!" Louie shouted.
"This," Webby said, in a calm voice, "was exactly why we didn't want to tell you." She told him. "We didn't want to scare you -."
"Scare me?" Louie repeated, he narrowed his eyes at her.
"Webby, I'm already scared! I'm scared to death for my brother's, scared to death that we are being targeted by F.O.W.L and scared to death of what could and might happen!" He told her all this as he held his breath and once he was done he let it out slowly as Webby looked down at the ground ashamed.
"I, I'm sorry, Louie. We -, I mean, I -. Was just looking out for you." She told him finally, looking up at her with tears in her eyes.
Louie stared at them and felt, yet, another stab of guilt on top of the one he was currently feeling. He hadn't meant to make her cry. She was, after all, trying to help him, to protect him. She was probably beating herself up for not protecting his brother better.
