Chapter 2: The arrest

Hailey's POV

  It was a cold February afternoon and me and Jay had been watching Laura from inside the car for the last 3 hours.

"Well this is taking more than usually, the kid is just there talking to her frinds, it's not like we can bring her in for talking extremely loud. Like in what language are they even speaking?"

  Jay asked a little annoyed because of all the time it was taking for someone to go and try to buy drugs from Laura. It was actually nice to see Jay like that, the look on his face was priceless. Me and Jay had become very close over the years we've working together, I knew I could always count on him for everything because he had already shown me that when I needed him the most, the truth is I jave feelings for Jay, always have had, just never the courage to tell him that.

"I assume it's portuguese although it sounds more like russian, but that doesn't really matter. What does is that tonight everything will be half of the price at Molly's, so maybe I was thinking we could go out and do some crazy things that we'll regret tomorrow moarning?" I asked with a smile in my face.

"Oh definitely, just don't puke in my kitchen floor like the last time!" Jay said making fun of me while I lightly punched him in the arm.

"You promised me you'd never bring it up!"

"I promised I would never bring it up in front of anyone else" Jay said enfatizing his last words.

  We were both laughing and talking to eachother when I saw a woman aproaching Laura, she looked disoriented and suspicious.

"Hey, Jay, over there. That womam who's walking towards Laura, she looks like she's gonna get a fix."

"Yes, she's just taken some money out of her bag and Laura is taking something out of her pocket. Pass me the camera please."

  I handed Jay the camera and he took pictures of Laura selling a litlle bag of drugs to the woman, Laura had no idea of the mess she just got herself into.

"Okay, lets go get this kid. You think she's armed?" I asked Jay, shooting a kid wasn't in my list of wishes for today, especially one that didn't have any fault of her dad's bad decisions.

"I don't think so. Her father doesn't even bother to buy her some nice and clean clothes, why would he care about her safety?"

"Okay, then lets do this"

  Me and Jay walked out of the car and slowly approached the girl.

"Laura Gonçalves, chicago PD put your hands up and..."

  Just when I was about to finish talking to her, Laura ran away, Jay was faster than me and was right behind her and when Laura tried to jump a fence he grabbed and tried to restrein her wrapping his arms around her body.

"Laura stop moving, please stop moving I don't want to hurt you."

  Jay was struggling to make her stop, for her small body she sure had a lot of strength.

"It's ok, Laura, it's all going to be ok just please stop resisting, we don't want do hurt you but you need to do what we say."

  Laura finally stop moving and Jay held her for a bit more as she was shaking and breathing heavily because of all the adrenaline. When she finally calmed down I handcuffed Laura and led her towards the car as Jay was still trying to catch his breath.

"Hey Laura I'm Hailey and this is Jay, we are detectives and we work for the CPD, we're going to take you to the police station, you can call your dad or anyone you want there, okay?" I asked trying not to scare her and making her have another rage atack.               

  Laura was starring at the floor, too scared to even look at me in the eyes, but just when we were about to get in the car a sweat and low voice answered me back.

"Okay."
