Rory's POV

"You have a great face," a girl says to me.

"Thanks, so do you."

"Yeah, uh, Rory, this is April," Luke says.

"Oh, April. Hello there, April," I shake her hand.

"Hi," she replies.

"The famous April."

"I'm famous?" she asks.

"Kind of," reply.

"Uh, Rory's an old friend," Luke says.

"She doesn't look old," April replies.

"I mean, I've known her well since... she was your age. She's from Stars Hollow. She's actually the daughter of the woman I'm with, my fiance, Lorelai. You met her that one time. It's kind of complicated," Luke rambles on.

"I'll say," April says.

"You probably want to get back to that boyfriend of yours, right?"

"He's not my boyfriend. Jeez."

"Hey. Luke, come here," Jess says.

They walk off and a little girl walks up with a plate with a few cookies. She takes a seat by where April and I are standing.

Once she is situated she looks up at April offering her a cookie. April takes it and sits next to her.

"Who is this?" I ask already knowing the answer.

"Oh, this is Jess's daughter, which I guess makes her my cousin."

"Hello," she says with a mouth full of cookie, causing me to laugh.

"Hi, aren't you a cute thing?" I say.

She smiles at me and offers me a cookie.

"I Lory," she says.

"Well, hello, Lory. I'm Rory," I reply.

Her eyes light up.

"Like mine!" she says happily.

"Yeah! You know, I'm a good friend of you dad's."

"Know Daddy?"

"Mmhm."

She continues to eat her cookies while April and I start talking.

Luke's POV

I follow Jess.

"Here," he says, holding out a copy of his book.

"Oh, let me buy this. So that way, you would get the money."

"Nah, it's okay."

I notice something stuck in the book.

"What's this?"

"It's what's owed," he replies.

"You owe me nothing," I tell him.

"I owe you. Take it, and if you rip it up, I'm just gonna send another."

I sigh.

"I'm very proud of you, of this, of what you're going for here. I don't get all of it, but I'm me."

"Thanks," he replies.

We give each other a hug and then go back to the girls.

"We should get going," I state.

"Nice meeting you," April tells Rory.

"Nice meeting you, too. Good luck with everything," she replies.
