Chapter Forty One

"Francesco." I answer.

"Francesco?" She repeats.

I nod my head answering the phone. I put it on speaker so she could also hear. "Hello?" He spoke with his faint Italian accent sending chills down my back.

"Oh," I sing. "Francesco? I haven't seen you since, um, I don't know. Vincenzo's party."

There's a brief silence before he coughs. "I didn't know you noticed me."

I try and hold back my anger and think back to Casey. "How's your fiance? Casey is a really sweet person you know. Does she know your cheating on her?"

"I would rather talk to you about this in person, Arabella. Can we meet at the first place we had our date? At 8:30?" He asks.

I look at Amelia who's shaking her head. I've heard breakups are best in person. "Okay." I spoke cutting the call.

"Why did you say yes?" She questions.

"Because I deserve an explanation."

I slowly open the office door. "You called for me?" I ask Vincenzo as I enter inside.

"Yes. I need you to do something really important for me." He informs.

"Okay. What is it?"

"I need you to resign. If you don't, I'll fire you."

I open my mouth shocked at his words.

"Why do you want me to quit?" I stammer scared of his explanation.

"Because I don't need you to assist me in my work anymore."
