Warner Bros were considering an American cast early on in pre-production, one of the studio's favorites was the late Robin Williams for the role of Hagrid. Chris Columbus was also considering Liam akin for the role of Harry Potter but J.k. Rowling stepped in and intervened stating the cast must be British to reflect the books, she won on this one and the entire cast ended up being British with one exception that of the late Brun Troyer who played the goblin Griphook in the first movie but was dubbed in post production by Warwick Davis.
