Avada Kedavra or the killing curse has been taken from the Aramaic phrase 'avra kehdabra' which means 'I will create as I speak'. JK Rowling has combined it with the Latin word 'cadavra' meaning 'dead bodies'. So 'Avada Kedavra' means 'I will create dead bodies as I speak'
