THUNDERSTORM

A loud crash woke you up from your sleep. After a few seconds your room was lit because of the lightning and another loud crash quickly followed.

You swallowed thickly, you were terrified of thunderstorms. There was no way you were going to fall back asleep.

You ran across the hallway to Sam's room.

As soon as you raised your hand to knock, you hesitated. Wasn't this going to be weird?

Knocking on your friend's bedroom door in the middle of the night might be crossing the line. Especially when that friend was the one you had a secret crush on.

The decision was made for you when the sound of thunder rolled in the distance. The storm was getting closer. You frantically knocked on his door.

Sam opened it after a few seconds, and was met with the sight of you in your nightclothes and a blanket wrapped around your shoulders, eyes wide.

You see, during summer, Sam usually slept in only his undergarments, chest bare. It was simply too hot for proper night clothes. Even tonight, when his friend stayed over he didn't think about it. He hadn't expected you to knock on his door in the middle of the night of course. Not that you complained.

"Y/N, are you alright? What's wrong?" he asked you.

You were still distracted by the sight of him and felt the heat rise in your face.

"Are you blushing? Are you ill?"

He pressed his hand on your forehead to check your temperature.

You blinked a few times before you found your tongue again.

"No... No, I'm not sick."

"Then what's wrong? You can't sleep?"

Another flash of lightning lit up the hallway, making you flinch. Realization dawned on Sam's face.

"I know this sounds weird Sam, but... Can I stay here tonight?" You asked with a small voice, "I don't think I can sleep alone."

He took a step back into his room to let you pass.

You noticed a small chair in the corner and made your way towards it.

"What are you doing?" he asked.

"I was going to sleep in the chair...? I didn't want to assume...."

He frowned.

"Y/N, you came to me because you were scared. If you're going to sleep in that chair, you might as well go back to sleep in your own bed. Don't be ridiculous and come here."

He threw back the blanket on his bed to invite you over.

You crawled into bed next to him, but kept your distance, just in case.

Suddenly a loud thunderclap sounded and without thinking you closed the distance between the both of you, burying your face in his chest.

Sam chuckled, wrapping his arms around you.

"Don't worry, Y/N," he whispered. "I've got you..."
