Legolas x reader

Requested: Yes! By who suggested prompts 12 and 50 from my sleepover prompt list. "Come back to bed, please" and "I didn't know where else to go."

Warnings: angst, angst, angst, but with fluff ending (you know I could never make Legolas the bad guy)

A/N: I really wanted to turn this into a fluff piece, and to be honest the prompts that were chosen asked for fluff. But yeah... angst happened. Like a lot of it. Sorry! The other Legolas requests I have, are all fluffy. I promise!!

You woke up in the early morning before dawn, knowing something was off. The bed felt cold, even though you were buried in thick, cozy blankets.

You reached your arm behind you, and just as you expected Legolas wasn't there. His place in the bed still warm, so he couldn't be gone long.
At that time he came out of the bathroom fully dressed, without a sound, trying his best not to wake you.

"Legolas?"

He froze when he heard your voice.
"Meleth nîn?"

"Come back to bed, please," you spoke softly.

He sighed while walking to the bed and crouched down next to you.
"I- I can't, I have an early meeting again," he said and kissed your hair. "I'll see you at breakfast."

Before you could protest, he was gone.

You rolled onto your back and threw your arm across your face.
What was going on with him? That was the fourth time he left your chambers in the middle of the night with the same excuse, only to return in the morning.

Maybe you could ask Thranduil to schedule his early meetings at a different time, or at least after breakfast.

Yes, that was a good idea. After breakfast you would pay him a visit. Thranduil would understand.

With the prospect of having a possible solution to your lonely nights, you had no problem falling asleep again.

Just as he had promised, Legolas returned during breakfast. He was accompanied by your best friend (Y/F) and you waved them over.
"Did you have a good meeting?" you asked him.

He frowned, looking at you rather confused before his eyes widened. "Oh! The meeting! Yes, well... as good as you can expect from these early meetings I guess."

You looked at your friend, who shrugged their shoulders.

"Do you want me to talk to your father? You haven't had a good night's sleep in days because of these meetings. I'm starting to get worried," you suggested.

"No!" he gasped, gaining the attention of the other elves around us. "I mean... That is really not necessary. Ada has enough on his mind as it is. I will manage."

After breakfast he went to the training grounds with the guards, leaving you alone with (Y/F).

"He's hiding something," you spoke, squinting your eyes. (Y/F)'s eyes widened.

"Hiding? As in... doing something wrong?"

You shrugged. "I don't think so, it's just... Something's off. Let me go talk to Thranduil, just in case."

When you stood up, your friend stopped you. "Y/N, Legolas asked you not to."

"Is it my fault if I happen to bump into him in say... the throne room? Pure coincidence!"

She rolled her eyes. "Don't say I didn't warn you."

Some time later, you sat on your bed. Knees tucked under your chin, arms wrapped around them. You should've listened to (Y/F)...
