Alive

I carried the damaged parts of my soul, the injured parts of me,

Carried and convinced my heart, that love breaks.

My mind feared everyone, I hated where I reside,

Recovered slowly from the ache.

But what broke me, returned to me in a form of words,

Phrases, stanzas where I convey my pain,

Where silently, I cursed fate.

Cursed fate.

Curse fate.

Till fate of mine, intertwined with one,

Who seemed so distant, at first glance.

Till his words oddly warmed the coldest chasms of my soul,

Till it overwhelmed me.

Till my eyes only lingered upon his,

I didnt know that I was seeking.

Till I smiled, knowing that I breathed,

I realized that he's safe, friendly.

Till he and I would laugh at his quirkiness, my mistakes, his blunders, our memories,

I believed we were closer than we've been.

Till his words about his love made me wonder, made me think if I were her...

My heart convinced my mind that love returned,

And I longed to be his world,

Became desperate to be

His lover, and his love alone,

Is mine to praise, admire, relish,

To embrace it fully.

I used to chase the world in the dark,

Blinded, wounded, poor and begging,

Till I was fully revived.
