The reason why I was up so early this morning while Hendrix was still asleep, I don't know at all. But since I was I decided to clean up so I could cook breakfast since there was nothing else to do. While I washed the dishes I could hear my phone start to ring upstairs since the house was so quiet
"Kay!" Benji yelled from upstairs and I sucked my teeth
"You right there. Answer it"
He started saying something but I didn't know what, however my phone got quiet so he must've answered it. I started washing the dishes again, finishing up the last little bit and by the time I finished, I could hear Benji coming downstairs. He walked into the kitchen with Hendrix wide awake
"Who was it?"
"Yo sister?"
"Which one?"
"Lani"
I wiped my hands off with a paper towel then threw it in the trash "oh.. what she want?"
Benji stopped to look at me with a straight face "if you wanted to know all that you should've went and answered the phone"
"Nigga you was right there at it and I was all the way down here! Don't do that"
"I said what I said"
"And I said what I said, the fuck?"
He went to the fridge and opened it "he ain got no bottles already made?"
"No. I was just about to make some before I start cooking"
"Whatchu bout to cook?"
"Ion know. What you want?"
"It don't matter. Just make sure you cook some bacon.. and eggs... aye, we got some French toast?"
"That sound real specific when you just said nevermind"
Benji looked me up and down before hand Hendrix over to me "getcho kid"
"Oh now he's my kid?" I asked while Hendrix put his hand on the side of my face looking at me "you supposed to be sleep for another hour poppa"
"Yo phone woke him up" Benji told me as he started to fix Hendrix a bottle and somebody knocked on the door
"That lani"
"And you couldn't tell me that's why she called?" I asked while I walked out of the kitchen and went to answer the door for her
"Kay! Girl" she started as she walked in the house. She stopped to grab Hendrix from me and kissed his cheek "hey aunties baby"
"What brought you over here?"
"I just left scooters apartment"
"Oh you stayed over there?"
"Yeah. I stayed the weekend over there. Girl he caught me off guard when he said he loved me before I left"
"Whatttt?" I laughed
"Yes kay. This nigga used the L word." She said while following me back into the kitchen where Benji was shaking up Hendrix's bottle
"Whatchu said back?"
"Nothing"
"Why you ain tell that man you love him back?" Benji laughed
"Cause it's too early for him to be saying that"
"Y'all fucked with each other before ain it?"
"Yeah but all jokes aside I'm a different person than who I was last time we talked. I want him to get used to the changed, matured Lani before he just sat he love me cause what if he loving the old me"
