Regrets

Chapter 5

After a good cry, AJ and layed on the grass in the backyard.

"Why didn't you call me as soon as you found out" AJ asked.

"Denial. I guess part of me just wanted to  feel like a college acceptance student a little longer."

"You heard back from Paxton" AJ asked.

"Yes."

"Congratulations. Can I still say that" AJ asked.

"Of course" I said

"Well, if you still want to go to school, I will support you."

"Why are you sweet."

"You bring it out of me" AJ said.

AJ stood and held out his hand to me.

"Not to pressure you but which set of parents are we telling first" AJ asked.

Yikes. I did not think of that.

"Lets flip a coin" I said.

AJ produced a quarter from his pocket.

"Heads or tails" AJ asked.

"Tails."

AJ tossed the coin in the air.

"Heads."

"Best two of three."

AJ laughed. "Sorry babe but we're telling your folks first."

I am a dead man.

"Babe it will be fine" AJ said.

I looked into AJs handsome face. I knew he was being brave but I could see the fear in his eyes.

I smiled. "OK honey."

"Lets go get something to eat" AJ said.

AJ and I decided to hold off on telling our parents. He said, he wanted to get the pregnancy confirmed by a doctor first.

I scheduled an appointment for Wednesday, today was Tuesday.

After school I decided to shower and make a snack.

I was so focused on preparing my snack, I did not notice my father come into the kitchen.

"Hey pumpkin" Mr.Taylor said.

I yelped.

He laughed. "Sorry I did not mean to spoke you" Mr.Taylor said.

Since when are we on speaking terms.

"Um, congratulations on getting into Paxton"

"Thankyou."

"I know how hard you worked, you deserve it" Mr.Taylor said.

An uncomfortable silence enveloped us.

"I miss you pumpkin" Mr.Taylor said.

I felt my heartbreak a little.

"I miss you to dad."

His face lit up.

"But, if you want to be apart of my life, you have to accept all of it" I said definitively.

Mr.Taylor sighed. "You mean AJ."

"I do."

"How does dinner sound" Mr.Taylor asked.

I smiled. "Lovely. I will call AJ and set up a time."

"Sounds good."

"I was just making some cheese popcorn. Would you like to join me for an episode of the good doctor."
