THIS IS NOT A CHAPTER, BUT AN UPDATE/NOTICE FROM THE AUTHOR

~~+~~

I believe that people may be wondering if I have dropped this fanfiction or not, due to, well, the increasingly frequent and long hiatus (hiatuses? hiati?) that the story has been getting thus far. I am here to inform everyone reading this story that I, indeed, have, for a few reasons.

...

1 - The Writing

...

I'm not sure if most people have noticed that Noah's Ark is indubitably a kind of power fantasy, albeit a little on the better side of power balancing. It does not help that its writing is actually done "by the seat of my pants"—meaning nearly none of the later chapters were actually planned out when I had begun writing it. By the time we had reached the point of the previous chapter, I had run out of places to go that wouldn't feel fake or superficial due to how the supplementary lore added for the story was structured.

This also brings up the many issues regarding the things that I have added for the sake of the story. Things such as the doppelgangers of Noah and the ongoing inner turmoil that I had written for him, as well as his relationship with his cousin "Jenny" Jenovah and the whole secret Ark project (which already existed in-canon as a spaceship sent to find a habitable planet without Honkai and contained the human gene library) that he was part of were, to put bluntly, a horrible mess. The "lore" was poorly crafted and fuelled mainly by my idle daydreams in my classes without consideration to how it will affect the rest of the world of Honkai and the story I had begun. It was simply "Mysterious super secret super soldier attends Valkyrie school and saves the world" with very little polish in execution. I have made interesting characters (see: Eclair). I have made boring copies of existing ones (see: Irene, which I got the idea from back when Raven was just leaks). Suffice to say, much of the writing was not original and was about as interesting as the isekai trash that I keep finding while perusing the novelupdates (with caveats because I'm biased for my own writing).

2 - Life and Interests

...

I am truly fortunate that Covid did not affect my family's lives too harshly. All that has happened is that everyone had taken refuge back in their homes and that classes have been changed to online learning.

That said, I did not feel like writing Noah's Ark. With community quarantine came a sudden increase in time that I could spend playing video games. I began playing Terraria, then moved back to playing Overwatch before attempting to go back to Terraria as I got tired of the toxic competitive atmosphere. After which, I tried to lazily go back to writing by starting a Terraria Calamity mod fanfic, which was held back by my poor management of school requirements and ended up being dropped due to burnout from the Terraria grind. In that time, I had lost interest in Honkai Impact as a game because, after reaching lv 69, it felt as if the meta had suddenly caught up to me, and suddenly I'm unable to get past seven floors in Dirac Sea or Abyss. It does not help that I was f2p and constantly mismanaged my investments.

Around October, I got into Genshin Impact. I loved the game as much as I did when I first got into Honkai and attempted to start a fanfic about that, which ultimately ended in the drawing board. It was just that, compared to Honkai, Genshin's story so far is kind of...shallow? It didn't have the same grip as Honkai did, and even though people may make good fanfics of Genshin out there, they couldn't change how I placed Honkai's story in my head.
