"You see her." Ronnie pointed to an unsuspecting blonde who was talking to a group of girls I didn't recognize, "June 23rd. Her parents' bed."
I slapped his arm as the girl looked over to us. I gave her a sympathetic look but she didn't notice, she was too busy drooling over a smug Ronnie.
"Oh yeah," Sal said, raising her arm to point at a freckled ginger talking to a short-looking guy, "July 1st. Beach."
Ronnie scoffed at that, making Sal glare at him, "Pfft please, half the school has done her."
After that comment, I decided it would be much better to drown out the sound of the two drunk friends arguing over who had been with which girl with my thoughts, they could be quite loud sometimes.
We had been sat here on a log for around twenty minutes now, Sal and Ronnie having the same quarrel. They tended to get slightly competitive after a few drinks. Me, however, I was completely sober and just admiring the scenery. If only I had a blanket right now, it would have been perfect.
The tide had come in, leaving only a little bit of the beach left for us to party. The lighthouse in the distance shone through the slight fog surrounding it, the red and white stripes were bright against the dark backdrop. Shouting and screaming teens could be heard against the crashing of the water, the sound of sparklers lighting, and sizzling everywhere. Red cups were scattered on the fine sand beneath our feet, more and more piling up as the night went by. The night air was prickling on my skin, raising the hairs on my neck and arms. However, the most mesmerizing thing of the night was by far the sky. Although it was cloudy, I could still see the brightest stars, shining through every obstacle. They sat in the sky as if they were an art gallery for everyone to examine.
"Get up." I jumped a little at the arm linking in mine, pulling me up.
"Huh?" I looked around, dazed.
"We're finding you a guy," Ronnie added, "I know loads of guys who would love to have you in their bed for the night."
"Oh, fuck off! I don't want a one night stand," I whined as I dragged my feet on the sand behind me as Ronnie and Sal began walking.
"You never know, it could be more than that. That's the beauty of them," Sal said, I could hear the smirk on her lips.
Finding me a suitable one night stand seemed to have become a fun hobby of the two grinning fools on either side of me. It was like a fun little party game. Not for me, though. They often liked to drag me around the whole party, talking to each guy we saw.
"Look, how about we play hook up Reggie another night, okay?" I unlink my arm from them both and place my palm on my head, it was beginning to hurt a little, I must have hit it harder than I thought on the brooding rock earlier.
"What's got your panties in a twist?" Sal frowned, crossing her arms over her chest.
"You know, I think I might be going a little crazy," I chuckled half-heartedly, "Earlier I thought I backed into a rock, he turned out to be a moody human though, but my brain still keeps referring to him as said rock, but every time it does that I'm picturing the rock, like as in Dwayne Johnson," I blurted out. It was like my brain just decided to shit out all of its crap right there.
"Right," Ronnie nodded, used to my causal brain shits, "Who is this rock? Not Dwayne the other one."
I shrugged, "I have no idea. Never seen him before."
"Oooooo," Sal made the sound of a 90s sound effect from a talk show, "Was he hot? Could he be a player in tonight's edition of Reggie's Rendezvous?" Since when had they came up with a name for their silly little tradition?
