"Klaus, if you don't stop ringing that bell in two seconds, I will shove it up your motherfreaking ass!"
The ringing promptly stopped and she sighed in relief. Five chuckled at his sister, who had fallen asleep in the chair next to the window in his room.
"Good morning," he greeted.
She pressed a finger to her lips to shush him. He watched as she pulled herself up and trudged to the door, passing by him and descending the stairs.
When they both made it to the kitchen, Five immediately swiped Luther's coffee from his hands as he was about to sip it.
"Aren't you grumpy this morning," Klaus said teasingly.
"I had a rough night."
"That makes two of you," he uttered, wiggling his eyebrows towards Luther. She surveyed his appearance and noticed that all of her brothers seemed somewhat disheveled and exhausted.
"Has anyone seen any of the others? Diego? Allison?" Klaus asked.
"Diego got arrested last night and Allison went to investigate a lead on Harold Jenkins," she filled in.
"Well I guess this is the closest we'll get to a quorum!" Klaus exclaimed, rapping a whisk against the table. Luther covered his ears at the noise and Carena grimaced and snatched the item out of his hand.
"There's no easy way to say this so I'm just gonna spit it out...I conjured Dad last night."
Luther's face fell, "I thought you said you haven't been able to conjure anyone in years."
"Yes, I know, but I'm sober!" he celebrated, taking a moment to accept Carena's high five, "I got clean, yesterday, to talk to someone very special but ended up having a conversation with dear old daddy himself."
The other brothers looked at each other momentarily. Silence fell upon them in disbelief and exhaustion.
"Has anybody got aspirin?"
"Top shelf, next to the crackers."
Klaus stopped Luther from getting up, "I'm being serious! This really happened."
"Okay, I'll play," Five sighed, "What did the old man want?"
Carena leaned back in her chair and stole Five's discarded coffee cup.
"Well, he gave me the usual lecture about my appearance and my failures in life. Yada yada yada. No surprise there. Even the afterlife couldn't soften a hardass like Dad, right?" he laughed.
"Amen!" Carena cheered, raising her mug up high.
"But he did mention something about his murder, or lack thereof because...he killed himself."
Klaus stood still as he let his revelation sink in. He patiently folded his hands and waited like a child waiting for their parent's attention. Luther's face dropped any hint of amusement and he stood up from his chair.
"I don't have time for your games, Klaus."
"I am telling you the truth, Luther," he said sincerely, "I am telling the truth."
Five leaned forward, "Why'd he do it then?"
"He said it was the only way to bring us all back home again."
Carena snorted, "He never could do things the easy way."
"Dad wouldn't just kill himself."
