{ hi. this is some stuff I cut because I thought it was too cliché, straight up boring, didn't flow right, or fit anywhere ... but I also kept coming back to these moments and thought it wasn't fair to keep to myself anymore ... sooooo ya :) enjoy }
First Signs
I sigh as I lean back in my seat, looking up at the clock to see how much time is left in detention. Thankfully, there's only like 10 minutes until I'm free for the day.
"You have pen on your face," Jake tells me.
I just roll my eyes, replying, "I'm not buying that."
"I'm serious," he chuckles, still seemingly enjoying this too much.
"Fuck off. You're such a liar."
"Whatever," he rolls his eyes, turning to his phone. "I don't care."
I can't help the immediate self-conscious thoughts bombarding me, worried about the slim chance he wasn't lying. I pull my phone out, trying to subtly angle the screen so I can check my reflection. Sure enough, there's a dark smudge on my cheek. Fucking dick. Why does that make me hate him more?
I anxiously scrub at my skin, not even trying to hide it because he already knows he's right anyway. Once I'm pretty sure it's gone, I sigh, hating today and everything about it.
"You know you still have some, right?" Jake notes, looking at me with a somewhat amused glance.
I annoyedly grumble, flipping my phone open again to use the screen's reflection. I can't see any on my face though, and that's when I notice Jake's stifled snickering.
"Made you look," he jokingly mumbles, not bothering to hide his laughter anymore.
"You fucking asshole!" I whisper shout, shoving him so hard his whole chair tips. Even with him grabbing his desk to steady himself, it annoyingly just makes him laugh harder. I can't help but laugh along too though, it was kinda funny I guess.
Swimsuit Competition
This is my fifth lunch sitting with Jake and his friends yet I'm somehow less comfortable around them than ever. I can't stop checking my phone just to escape the awkward eye contact. It doesn't exactly help that they're always talking about shit like sports and video games that I don't give a fuck about, like right now for example:
"Who do you think is the hottest?" Lucas wonders, gazing dreamily at a table of giggling girls.
"Emily, no fucking question," Mateo replies.
"Just because you've been obsessed with her since 6th grade!" Lucas argues back. "Besides, Jamie has a nicer ass."
I can't help but roll my eyes, hating the conversation. I'm about to pull my phone out again when they catch my attention.
"C'mon, Jake, who's the hottest?"
I try not be too obvious, but I can't stop my gaze from snapping in Jake's direction. I'm curious about his answer, I've seen him make out with a few girls at the club, but that's not enough to know if he has a type.
"Out of who, the whole school or just our friend group?"
"Friend group," Mateo and Lucas unanimously respond.
