'When was the last time I went down and ate with father? Days, weeks, months? I've been too busy with my training and the upcoming ceremony that I haven't had time for sit down meals. It would always be a protein bar or a veggie smoothie, something that father could make quickly. Although, the new guard he hired, Tom was his name. He makes this amazing breakfast for me every morning. Omelet with bell peppers, ham, and green onions. My stomach is going to start growling just thinking about it.'

"Miss (L/N), are you ready to go?" You heard Tom knock on your door and speak in a polite voice. You smiled to yourself and looked at yourself in the long body mirror before turning to open the door. As the door swung open, Tom straightened himself up and held out his hand to you. You took his hand as you decended the long staircase and finally made your way to the kitchen.

Tom was a new guard that your father hired to help protect you, a perk of being in the mafia. You obviously didn't need anyone to guard you, but he rarely did any protecting. He would cook and clean and make sure you rested when you were burnt out from training. He was more of a father to you than your actual dad, but you would never say that out loud.

"Ah, hello dear." Your dad spoke in a soft low voice as you entered the dining hall. He was a tall man and had slicked back (H/C) hair. He wore an all black suit, one you swore he never took off. His height was the most frightening thing about him, he was a satggering 6'8", a height you could only wish to have.

Tom pulled out one chair at the table before you sat down, followed by him walking out after slightly bowing. It was no doubt that everyone in this house was scared of your father, but you didn't know why. You always chalked it up to him being a mafia boss, but you could tell there was something more, something they weren't telling you.

"(Y/N) dear, we need to talk about your upcoming initiation." You froze when those words left his mouth. You only wanted to have a nice dinner with your father and forget about business, but you should've known what you were hoping for was only a dream. You erased the panicked look on your face and looked towards the tall man.

"What about it-" You tried to speak before he interrupted you with a low chuckle and a harsh glare.

"You're not scared, are you? Are you not ready to be a chosen one?" He spoke, his voice going so deep you could feel the vibration through the floor. You gulped as you tried to keep a calm look about you.

'The ceremony, the initiation, the chosen one. Being in the mafia sure was fun, but having a power hungry and sadistic mafia boss of a father was not one of them. Of course I'm scared, so many of the people I knew died from from people trying to get their hands on it. My very own mother and brother being two among the many. Dad always said that an opposing gang wanted it and found out that we were the ones who were holding it, but I know he's lying. That stupid arrow, what kind of person randomly stabs themself with an arrow and finds out they have the powers of a god? Of course I'm scared, I can either be a chosen one, or can be left to rot in the backyard with the rest of them.'

"I'll be ready father, I swear it. You shouldn't worry about me. I won't dissapoint you." You spoke, keeping the shakiness in your voice to a minimum. He just hummed and placed his hand on your head, ruffling your hair. The rest of dinner that night was in a thick silence.

A light knocked was placed upon your door around 5:00 am. You didn't need anyone or anything to wake you up, you couldn't sleep. Everytime you closed your eyes, you could only imagine the thousands of different ways that today could end. Today was initiation day. You were terrified to say the least. Scared of dissapointing your father, scared of dying, scared of being too weak. The fears were endless, but you couldn't show it.
