I followed Draco towards the Scarlett train, as we weaved through the small amount of people on the platform. I had said goodbye to my parents at the Manor before coming here, I was okay with it because I honestly didn't want them to come at all. Draco never looked back at me, he just said to stay close.

We were walking through the corridors and it was quieter than I expected. Draco then turned to a compartment with two girls and one other guy in it. He nodded at them.

"Thought you weren't coming back" one of the girls joked to him. He gave a sarcastic smile.

"Things change" was all he said.

He sat down next to her and scooted over in the seat before tapping it. I sat down next to him in silence.

"Who is she?" The girl sitting across from us asked. She had crossed her arms and looked me up and down.

"This is y/n Avery." He then went around to introduce the rude girl as Pansy Parkinson, the guy sitting next to her as Blaise Zabini and the girl on the other side of him as Daphne Greengrass. I gave a small smile as I felt awkward as hell.

"Are you the new fiancé?" Blaise asked. I nodded shyly not thinking anyone would know. "It's nice to meet you" he reached his hand out and I took it to shake.

"You too" I muttered.

"You're American right?" Daphne asked me leaning forward to look past Draco.

"Yes. I am" the Parkinson girl snorted before Daphne continued.

"That's cool. I hope to visit there one day" was all she said giving me a kind smile.

"You got lucky Draco. I've seen some people matched up with some god awful people. Shes a beauty" he said smiling at me and gave me a wink. A light blush rose to my cheeks and I wasn't necessarily sure how to respond. Draco just nodded and looked down at me then back up at his friends.

They didn't discuss much. Just like the rest of the train there was mostly silence. I started to see people walk by in there robes. I looked down at my black dress.

"Do we need to get in our robes?" I whispered to Draco, he shook his head.

"No it'll be fine." He said shortly leaning closely to whisper it in my ear. I nodded even though he wasn't looking at me. There was a short silence before a voice broke it.

"I hear Americans are filthy." Pansy said from across the compartment. I cleared my throat unsure if I heard her right.

"What the hell pans" Blaise said knocking her shoulder.

"What I'm just saying" she had an evil smirk on her face. Great for whatever reason this girl hates my guts. "My mother told me they're the worst witches of all, Americans. That all they know how to do is make food appear on the table" she snickered but no one laughed with her.

"Knock it off Pansy" Draco glared at her. She just rolled her eyes and looked back out the window. I start playing with the end of my hair to let my nerves escape me.

We arrived soon after the debacle with Pansy. The three of his friends walked ahead of us but Draco slowed down to walk next to me.

"Don't worry about her. She's just jealous." He whispered to me.

"Jealous?" I asked raising my eyebrows.

"Yeah, we had a thing of you can even call it that. On and off. But she's not really over it" he snickered entertained by the idea. I just nodded.

We hoped into a carriage and made our way up to the castle, which I have to admit is beautiful.

The welcome feast wasn't anything to write home about. The headmaster Snape gave a short speech before sorting the few first years they had. I saw two faces behind him snickering and whispering the whole time.

Once we finished eating I again followed Draco like I was a lost dog. He whispered a password causing the stones on the wall to move. He stepped inside and I followed. It was a cozy room, still a bit dark like the manor but cozier. There were couches and chairs sitting around a fire, the lake out the window giving the whole room a green tinge. Before I realized Draco was across the room. I jogged to catch up to him but he didn't even notice my absence. We walked down a side hallway with candles on the wall. Draco reached into his pocket and opened the door with a key. He motioned for me to go in first. I nodded at him in thanks and walked in.

My trunk was already in there accompanied by his. There was a large king sized bed in the middle of the room with green curtains falling around it. A dresser and a pair of chairs next to another fireplace. There was also a bathroom on the other side of the room.

"I'm going to get comfortable" I said after taking in the room. He nodded and I took pajamas out of my trunk walking to the bathroom. I leaned on the sink and looked in the mirror.

This is really happening.

I take a deep breath and throw some cold water on my face before changing into the t-shirt and sweats I grabbed. I took my hair out and my makeup off. Normally I wouldn't do this in front of a guy for a while but it's not like he can leave me.

I exit the bathroom to see Draco starting to unpack already. He was halfway through my trunk when I came out.

"Oh you don't have to-"

"It's fine. I don't mind" he said back continuing to unpack my things. I went next to him to help when I noticed the pictures at the bottom. I grabbed them quickly before he could see them. But he saw my urgency and gave me a confused look. He reached forward and took the pictures in his hand, pulling them away from my chest. I could've stopped him but for whatever reason I didn't. He flipped through them. Most of them were of me and my friends, then he got to the last one.

Damian.

"Your boyfriend?" He asked holding up a picture of me kissing his cheek then looking back at the camera and laughing. I took the pictures and put them in a pocket of my chest to hide them.

"Ex-boyfriend" I said quietly. I looked up at him trying to keep tears from leaving my eyes.

"Did you have to break up with him.. for" he pointed between the two of us. I nodded and closed my chest. "Sorry to hear that" he said softly. I just shrugged and walked over to the chair by the fire. I laid myself over the chair and ottoman taking a throw blanket with the same emblem as my robes on it and got comfortable.

"What are you doing?" He asked grabbing sweats out of his trunk now.

"I'll sleep here." I muttered. I didn't feel comfortable sleeping in a bed with him yet.

"Don't be ridiculous. It's a king sized bed, there's plenty of room for both of us."

"I'm okay thank you" my voice was shaking as memories of home came back after seeing those pictures again. I heard him sigh and enter the bathroom.

That's when I let the tears fall.
