He stared down in disbelief at the words that showed on his thigh. He read it over and over again. "We're close. We are very very close. I could find my soulmate." he spoke excited yet saddened. He wanted to meet his soulmate. He really did, but at the same time, he wanted Oikawa. Tooru Oikawa, the man who haunted his dreams, all his thoughts. The man he wanted to hold close to him, the one he wanted to protect at all cost, even though he knew he didn't need protection.

He pulled out his phone, his hands shaky.

Hey, you doing anything right now? He messaged Oikawa, expecting an instant response due to his previous communication tendencies.

No, why what's up Iwa-chan? He could practically hear the 'Iwa-chan'. Did he really want to talk to Oikawa about this?

Oh nevermind, it's nothing. He sent the message. He was still scared. Scared of his feelings, scared of how much Oikawa could affect him.

I can tell you're not telling me something. I've known you forever. What's up? Iwa looked at the message. He felt a bit happy that Oikawa knew something was up, but at the same time, he was still scared to talk to him about it.

It's really nothing. Sorry for bothering you. And with that, he turned off his phone.

...

Oikawa knew something was wrong. He knew Iwa wouldn't text him like that for no reason. He carefully climbed out his window, taking his phone with him. He knew his mom wouldn't let him out anytime past 10. He walked over to Iwa's house, grateful that it was close.

When he arrived outside his best friend's house he went to the window. He took a couple of deep breaths before knocking.

Iwaizumi heard gentle taps coming from behind his curtains. He sat up slowly, adjusting his pants, making sure the writing on his leg was covered. It was silent again so he thought it was probably just nothing. He heard a couple more taps followed by whisper yelling. "Hey Iwa-chan" He knew exactly who it was. He stood up off his bed and walked over to the window, opening the curtains.

He stared at the boy behind the glass, "Oikawa? What are you doing here?" He looked at the smiling boy, unlocking and opening the window, letting the taller boy climb inside.

"I knew something was wrong, and since you wouldn't talk about it on the phone I decided to stop by." He had a bright smirk on his face. "So, what's up?" He asked again, but this time Iwa knew he couldn't lie his way out of it. He stood there silently. Not wanting to talk. When he got no response he walked forward, grabbing Iwa's arms tightly. "What's up?" He repeated this time sounding more serious.

"I... I think they're close." He started speaking, making Oikawa gain a confused look on his face.

"Who's close?" He asked, tilting his head to the side like a confused puppy.

He took a deep, shaky breath. "I think my soulmate is close." Oikawa let go of his arm and shifted uncomfortably.

"Oh... Well good for you! Are you gonna try to meet them? Is it just a theory or?" He stopped speaking. He plastered on a fake smile, waiting for a response from Iwa.

"I am almost 90% sure... but... but..." He stopped talking, fiddling with his fingers. Oikawa gave him a confused look.

"But??" Both boys held their breath, both fearing something. Oikawa fearing Iwa's answer, and Iwa fearing whether or not he will give himself away, fearing how Oikawa would react if he did know.

"But... I'm not sure if I want to pursue them... I'm not sure if I want to be with my soulmate.." He stopped talking, he breathed heavily, nervously fidgeting where he stood.

"Oh... I thought you were always a soulmate kinda guy. You may not have said it, but you showed it. I thought you liked there being someone set out for you. What changed?" He asked. Oikawa felt a guilty sense of happiness. He was happy that he didn't want to be with his soulmate, he thought it gave him more of a shot, but he hated seeing his best friend suffering like this.

Iwa stood there. A nervous mess. "What changed? What changed?" He repeated, anger rising in his voice. He took a few seconds to compose himself. "I don't know how, or why even, but you fall in love I guess. I guess it makes you forget about every belief you had before." The more he thought the harder it became to hide his feelings, it became harder to stay strong.

Oikawa stood there wide-eyed, saddened by the words he had just heard. "Who... Who is it?" He asked, his voice now shaky. He loved someone. He loved someone. He couldn't help but repeat those words in his head. His tears now threatening to pour down his face. He bit the inside of his cheek, trying to hold them back.

Iwaizumi was far from calm. He wanted to scream, run, hide, jump up and kiss the boy who stood in front of him, but instead. He stood there, his head hung low, cold tears running down his face. He didn't want to be seen like this. He didn't want to show what he was feeling. "I..." He started but he didn't have the strength to continue. He wanted to collapse onto the floor, sinking into it, disappearing forever. But he didn't.

"Who is it?" Oikawa asked again, he knew he was probably pushing it but his own selfishness took over. He wanted to hear the words of rejection. Maybe then he would finally be able to move on. "It's okay Iwa, you don't have to be embarrassed, just tell me..." His voice grew quieter with every word that came out. He stood there for a few more minutes, with still no response. "Hajime... Please." He was desperate. Desperate enough to call him by his first name. Desperate enough to let his voice audibly crack.

At the use of his given name, Iwa looked up, tears still flowing down his cheeks. "It's..." He stopped, his breath hitched, he wanted to tell him, but it hurt. He feared rejection.

"Please..." Oikawa begged again, observing the tears that streamed down the shorter boy's face.

"It's you..." He spoke again, barely audible. Oikawa's eyes widened more if that was even possible. Tears spilled down his face. Iwaizumi looked down at the floor again.

"W-what?" He asked, making sure he heard him correctly. Iwaizumi clenched his fist, his knuckles turning white.

"I said it's you alright!" He was irrationally yelling. His throat hurt from choking back the tears, and his eyes were swollen.

Oikawa stood there in shock. The boy he loved, loved him back. "Y-you love me?" Iwaizumi didn't say anything, he didn't even move. He was glued to that spot. Oikawa ran up and held the crying boy in his arms. "You love me." He said again with a small smile on his face, still crying.

Iwa was confused by the hug. "Just hurry up and reject me already." He spoke at a low grumble.

Oikawa pulled away with a smile on his face, his hands on Iwa's shoulders. "And why would I do that?" He asked, finding it very hard to hold back his emotions.

Iwa was very confused. "What... What are you saying?" He couldn't help but wonder why he didn't reject him, what was he thinking?

Oikawa had a bright smile on his face. "I love you Hajime Iwaizumi."
