"YOU KNOW, I still don't understand why you won't accept our money." The lady questioned, passing me the last of my bags.
"As I said, Mrs.Muller, I don't like taking money and you know this." I reminded her as I carried the rest of my things onto the dining room table.
Today was the day I'd be leaving this town after treating everyone to the best of my ability. While I was traveling I came across an ill boy who needed help, if only I would've known it would lead me to become the town doctor for a while. Nonetheless, I'm not complaining, it gave me time to get my things together and figure out where I'd travel next. In return for helping the suffering little village out, they would provide me with a cabin and food. Of course, there are still moments where they wonder why I don't ask for currency because I manage to put up with all this, sort of like right now.
"I know, I know. But you've done so much for us these past few months, I just wish we could all repay you." She confessed. I shot her a warm smile before making my way to the other room with my remaining things.
"You know," I breathed out, stepping through the doorway. "I'm a doctor of medicine, it's my duty to tend to others. It's my passion so there's no need to thank me." I spoke in hopes of comforting her. I heard Mrs. Muller's delicate footsteps followed behind me as I reached to fetch my gloves.
"I just wanted to say it again, thank you (Y/N)," she said with a gentle smile on her face as she reached in for a hug. I wrapped my hands around her, smelling the floral scent of flowers from her bonnet.
"I'll leave you be then," she mumbled while brushing out her apron. "We'll be right at the entrance to see you leave."
She began walking off before turning ever so slightly in the doorway. "Again I can't stress this enough, thank you for everything," she added, finally walking back to her husband and children.
I knew I couldn't stay in this town forever, I had to continue my research before the weather went against my wishes. I knew I wouldn't be able to test my theories, but if analyzing was the closest I could get then it's what I'll take.
Making my way towards the bedroom mirror, I slowly checked to make sure I had everything. In the reflection, I could see my dark brown trousers matched with a tucked in light blue long sleeve collared shirt. My black knee-length boots dirtied as always from my running. I had my knife holster strapped to the right of my thigh, my gun holster behind my back carrying my pistol, and my medical bag. I lightly turned around checking out the rest of my attire, coming to the conclusion I was finally ready to leave.
I headed back to the dining room, putting all my things in my medical bag. I picked it up and hung it over my shoulder as it landed on my right. Opening the front door I was ready to say my final goodbyes.

The sky lived miraculously bright and dramatically cloudy, feeling the gentle wind wave to my face. I could sense my black cloak flow in the air as I put my hand over my head, clutching my hood to keep it over my head.
