Quick A/N: this is 2023 Ab Hq here! Just letting ya know I'm completely rewriting this little arc! And the extra few dozen chapters of this story that will be releasing throughout this year will have solid arcs that explain a lot and undo a lot of the retconning and other continuity errors and to fill in gaps for time jumps! I'm trying to establish a better and more realistic timeline and narrative for ab! Enjoy!

*3 Years later*

Max his whole life had wondered about his father.

Chloe always kept photos of him and a lot of his stuff

Max even had an army cap that his dad gave to him

He knew his dad's name was Mackenzie.

He was a black and white border collie. He has vivid memories of himself as a baby spending time with him

Kenzie went missing when he was about 2 years old in Afghanistan along with another dog named Jack Russell

They were army rangers and on the mission they were sent on they were captured

Their command presumed them to be dead

But they weren't...

They both were discharged from the army after being rescued when the British and Ana conducted a raid on a Taliban prison that they were being held in

Once they were discharged they were so badly wounded emotionally and mentally they ended up homeless... and too a point where they couldn't see their families

Chloe and their families have been trying to find them for years to to avail...

*in the living room one day*

Max is holding the army cap Kenzie gave him when he was a baby pup

"I miss you..." said Max to himself looking at the hat

Chloe walked in from the kitchen

"Everything alright hun? You've been real quiet today." Said Chloe in reference to Max's eccentric personality

He brought out so much energy in everyone and everyday was something to look forward too.

So to Chloe it was odd to see Max so quiet but she knew something was wrong

"Y..yeah mum.. I'm ok..." said Max with a sigh

"Baby.. I know when something's wrong. You can tell me if something is bothering you. Said Chloe sitting next to him

Max's birthday was approaching and as he was getting older he wished he could see his father

"It's just... it's been so many years... I wish dad was here..." said Max bowing his head a tear dropping down

Chloe noticed the army hat in Max's hand

This sent chills down her spine

Chloe began to tremble a bit

"...Come here..." said Chloe as she embraced Max as she began to softly whimper

"..I'm sorry..." said Max

"You have nothing to be sorry for... I understand baby... I miss him too..." Said Chloe

Max began to cry a bit as well

"I just wish things could be different..." Said Max

"Me too my baby... me too... But everything will be ok... I love you.." said Chloe giving her son a kiss on the forehead as she held him

Max loved his mum with all his heart

And he hoped soon he would be able to find his father..
