Growin' up, I felt like no one ever really got me, eventually
I took that out on relationships (Woo!)
I put my arm around you, and I mean it, I love you to death
These are the moments I know I'ma always hold onto and cherish 'em, yeah
Life's about taking chances, making moves
Not about what you did, it's what you do
Build on what you got and learn from what you lose
And never let people distract you from being you

MY LIFE - NF

Life was great. Life was the best. I was turning 20 in two weeks and I was engaged to Evander. I couldn't ask for anything more.

Evan was the best. He was perfect. The Goddess chose perfectly when She paired us together.

If you told me that this is how I'd be living 6 months ago, I wouldn't believe you. All the things that truly mattered to me, I finally had. I just wished I could see my mother.

I would sometimes have nightmares about her and how she was in danger because of me.

I wished I could see Achilles and see how things were going back home but I knew it wouldn't be wise.

Evan was downstairs trying to make us dinner. He insisted that he could do it but from up here, I could smell burning.

"Evan! What have you burnt down there!" I yelled making my way downstairs.

"Everything is under control! That burning smell is just the flavours! I promise!" He choked out.

I laughed as I walked into the kitchen to find a mess. "Evander what is this?!" I laughed.

There were pots and pans everywhere. Spaghetti on the floor and I don't even know what was going on at the stove.

"Babe, I've got this!" He assured me.

I shook my head and turned off the stove for him while he thrashed around doing God knows what.

"Evan, it's okay! You don't have to do all this. Dinner is still dinner if I'm with you okay? I don't need a fancy dinner..." I said cupping his cheeks. He wrapped his arms around my waist.

I chuckled as I wiped the tomato sauce from his forehead and licked it.

"O agápi mou, min mageiréveis xaná..." I gaged.

(Oh my love, do not cook again)

He scoffed, "I'm an amazing—"

"Don't even finish that sentence..." I said kissing him, "I'll help you clean this up..."

He groaned, "Fine..." I sighed giving up.

After cleaning up the kitchen, I made us grilled cheese sandwiches and a bottle of wine.

"This is nice..." he said. I hummed in agreement.

"I don't think it could get any better than this..." I sighed.

"I think it could..." He mumbled.

"Huh? Why are you so quiet all of a sudden?" I asked.

All this time that I'd known Evan, he was never quiet. He was always joking around being happy and loud so this was new... almost creepy even!

"I'm not... it's just you might not agree with me..." he murmured, looking around nervously, completely avoiding my gaze.

I started to get nervous, "Try me..." I stated, sipping my wine.

He put his glass down and looked at me, "There's one thing that I've always wanted and I'm not sure how to ask, in case you get offended or in case you dont't want the same things..."

I swallowed and took his hands in mine, "It's okay, don't be nervous, just tell me..."

"Okay, well I've always wanted to be a father and have kids of my own. Tell me if I'm going too fast- I mean we don't have to have them right away-" he fumbled with his words

I chocked on my air. I'd never thought about being a parent. I never thought about life after uni or anything like that; heck, I didn'd think that I'd be engaged but here we are...

"What?" I asked quietly. My heart started running. Thélei paidiá...

(He wants children)

He wants to have kids of his own, with me. What if I can't have them though?! I've never even thought about this!

"What if we started our own family? We could have our own kids, and buy a bigger house if we needed to..." he went on...

"And you want this?" I asked as I removed my hands from his, taking another, longer sip from the glass.

"Yeah, I want everything with you..." he said, holding my hands.

"Are you sure? You do know what having children means right?" He looked confused, "No sex for 9 months, each time..." I smirked.

"That," he gasped, "That is something I'm willing to give up and—" he said as the doorbell rang.

"What? It's like 10 o'clock..." I asked myself, getting up.

"Why is this smell so familiar?" He asked following closely behind me.

I shrugged and opened the door, just as everything slowed and my heart pounded in my head and dropped to my stomach as an all familiar feeling of dread washed over me. I flinched as my whole life seemed to flash slowly in front of me; now coming face to face, and eye to eye with the barrel of a black gun.

I blinked harshly as Evander pulled me backwards, knocking me onto the ground, "Althea move!" he yelled as he stepped in front of me, creating a wall between me and the deadly weapon.

Nothing seemed to register as the loud blast from the gun echoed in the air, causing me to scream as I watched the bullet fire and peirce into Evander's chest, forcing him backwards into me.

"Evan!" I screamed as I tried to hold him up, only to find ourselves on the floor, his head on my lap as he started coughing up blood.

"No!"

In that moment, the world seemed to slow down even more as I tried to stop the bleeding, his crimson blood leaking through his shirt, covering my hands. He continued to cough, blood splattering on my face, making my scream again in agony, as if I were the one who'd been shot.

"No, no! Don't you dare! Don't- leave me! Evan! You said— what about our family—" I cried helplessly not knowing what to do. He continued coughing up more blood.

"No, it's gonna be okay, we're gonna save you-" I was cut off by the gunman grabbing my arms and dragging me away from him.

"No! Stop it please! Let go of me!" I thrashed around, trying to get out of their grip. They grabbed my waist and carried me out as I watched Evander lie there, coughing up more and more blood.

"No!" I cried, tears blurring my vision, "Please! Call an ambulance!" I yelled as I was dragged out the house, "Don't take him from me!" I cried as I was thrown into a van. I hit the floor only to force myself up and rush to the door which was shut in front of me.

I groaned as I hit my head against the metal and fell back down. I looked at my bloody hands with blurred vision and tried to get up; only to get more and more dizzy I started to feel lightheaded and my head hit the floor with a thud.

"Evander Leos...!"
