I took the letter from the house elf's hand and let him disapparate. I could tell he was eager to leave. I began to open the letter as I sat down in my chair. I took the letter out of the envelope, and I begin to read.
My dearest y/n, I haven't seen you in a very long time. And I've missed you. I'm unsure if you miss me - but I will not hold it against you if you don't. The last time we spoke was when we were sixteen. I had joined the death eaters and you had warned me not to. But I had not listened. I should've listened. I was young, and foolish. Now I know that we're the bad guys. And I've never wanted to be the bad guy. I just wanted to make my parents proud. So, here I am, writing to you to tell you that I am now doing the right thing. Unfortunately, I can not tell you exactly what it is that I am doing. I'm afraid if I do tell you, they'll kill you. Hopefully one day you'll find out. Whether I will get the privilege to tell you myself, or I die and someone has to tell you for me - you will find out. I can promise you that. What I can't promise you is that I will get to see you again. I am risking everything by doing the right thing, and there is a high chance I will not make it. If I do not hand deliver you this letter, It means I did not make it. In the case that I never see you again, I want you to know that I love you. You do not have to love me back, you only have to understand that in the end, you were right.
