When Kiara and Kovu woke up after their nap, they left the den to prepare for the council meeting to discuss the rouge pride of lions known as the Uhuru Pride. A council meeting was held whenever there was a problem regarding something that held utmost importance in the Pride Lands.

It was held by Kiara and Kovu and its members consisted of Nala, Diana, Burnt Eboney, Vitani and Marisa. This council meeting was to discuss solutions for the issue with the Uhuru Pride and everyone was already in the Council Cave, waiting for Kiara and Kovu.

Just as the couple was about to leave the platform for the council meeting, Zalika, Pricilla and Damien came running up the steps, shouting and laughing as they enjoyed a game of Zebra, Zebra Lion, a game where two zebras ran from a lion, and in this game, Zalika was the lion and Pricilla and Damien were the zebras.

"Panic and run, panic and run, lots to do under the sun, chasing zebras are so much fun when they panic, panic, panic... And run!" Zalika shouted as she chased her sister and Damien around the platform. Upon seeing Kiara and Kovu, Zalika, Pricilla and Damien skidded to a halt.

"Where are you and Daddy going Mommy?" Pricilla asked staring up at her parents.
"To a council meeting honey," Kovu replied.
"Ooh can we come with you?" Zalika asked excitedly, jumping around eagerly, hoping her parents would say yes.

"Council meetings are for the adults to attend, no cubs allowed baby," Kiara said smiling. "Daddy and I have to discuss some things with Grandma Nala, Grandma Diana, Grandpa Eboney and your aunts, won't take long."
"What are you going to discuss?" Zalika inquired.
"Some important things that little cubs can't understand," her father said.
"What kinda things?" the little cub insisted.

"Things that don't concern us, so let's go play and leave Mom and Dad to attend their business," Pricilla reprimanded her sister.
"But I wanna know," Zalika protested. "I'm not feeling to play anymore."
"Let's go look for Maylene, her mother said she should be finished with her afternoon nap by now, let's go see if she wants to play," Damien interjected.

"Yeah, let's go. Maylene comes up with some really great games, c'mon Lika let's go," Pricilla said excitedly as she pulled her sister in the direction of the steps.
"Alright fine let's go," she said grinning. "Bye Mommy, bye Daddy."

"Bye kids, be safe and don't stray too far," Kovu cautioned the wild cubs before they could run out of earshot. When the cubs were gone, Kiara and Kovu went to the Council Cave to conduct the meeting. Seated in a circle in the cave were Nala, Diana, Burnt Eboney, Marisa and Vitani, awaiting Kiara and Kovu's entrance.

"Everyone's here, good, let us begin the meeting," Kovu said as he and Kiara entered the cave and took their place at the head of the gathering circle. When everyone was settled in, Kovu began the meeting.
"As you all know, this council meeting has been organised to present solutions for the problems regarding the Uhuru Pride."
Everyone nodded their heads in understanding and Kovu continued.

"Before I ask for suggestions, I'd like to ask Vitani if her Auxiliary Lion Guard have reported for duty. Kion and his lion guard has left for the Mbali Fields migration, which should take two days for the most. The purpose of the Auxiliary Lion Guard is for them to temporarily relieve Kion's lion guard whenever the need arises, Vitani, anything to report?"

"My Auxiliary Lion Guard has nothing out of the ordinary to report. Just a few animals complaining about the heat, an elephant has given birth and she requested protection since a few hyenas have been lurking around recently. A leopard cub has been left behind by its mother and my lionesses are overseeing its safe return to its leap. That is all," Vitani said efficiency.

"Excellent, thank you Vitani. And now, moving on to the issue at hand, the Uhuru Pride. Any suggestions?" Kovu asked.
The cave was silent as everyone pondered this question. Several minutes passed before Nala spoke up.
"I suppose we can negotiate a truce with the leaders of the Uhuru Pride? Hear their conditions, the reason they have for trespassing onto our lands, what we can do to prevent such acts in the future."

They listened to this suggestion and decided it was indeed a good one. But then Kiara thought of something that would complicate the matter and voiced her opinions.
"A truce may work, but what if they ask for more than we can provide? I mean if they have any sinister, ulterior motive, they may take undue advantage of our helplessness and cause further problems if their demands are left unfulfilled."

This was thought upon with great consideration and deciding Kiara was right, the suggestion of a truce was abandoned.
"We can call upon the leaders of the Uhuru Pride and humbly request them to leave us alone," Diana said. Marisa shook her head at that suggestion.
"They are too ignorant for that Mom, they would not agree to leave us alone. In fact, they may just continue to cause problems."

"Marisa's right, they would not agree. I say we request Amani to come in and mediate between the two prides. She and her father will understand our disposition, they're family, I am certain they will help us," Burnt Eboney said.

"I already told you Dad, I am not allowing Amani to come into the Pride Lands. She may be family, but her attitude is not pleasing, it is truly horrible," Kovu said disgustedly.
"She had  the audacity to insult Kiara, my wife, the Queen of the Pride Lands. She's lucky she's your niece and family also, otherwise she would've suffered severe repercussions."

"Kovu, Amani has had a difficult childhood, her mother, your aunt, abandoned her and our pride and went rouge when Amani was little. She is different that's all. She means no harm," Burnt Eboney said wearily.
"That's no excuse Dad, no one's had an easy childhood. But that doesn't mean she can treat people anyhow she pleases," Kovu said firmly.

"Let's forget Amani for now, we have to focus on the issue at hand," Kiara pleaded in a desperate attempt to stop the argument from escalating. Everyone agreed and all talks regarding Amani ceased altogether. Suggestions about how to deal with the Uhuru Pride were voiced as the council meeting progressed.
