The Greenland wolf (Canis lupus orion) is a subspecies of gray wolf that is native to Greenland.

Habitat:

Greenland wolves inhabited throughout the arctic regions and tundras of Greenland.

Characteristics:

Greenland wolves are white or pale colored. They have been described as being small to medium in length, at 155 cm (5 ft 1 in) but extremely light in weight, at 26 kg (57 lbs).

Diet:

Greenland wolves are predatory carnivores and eat a wide variety of food, hunting in packs for musk-oxen and caribou. They also eat Arctic hares, lemmings, ptarmigan, and other small animals, such as nesting birds.

Breeding:

Greenland wolves are a monogamous species and the alpha male and beta female are the only ones in the pack that are allowed to mate. They become suitable for mating within 2 to 3 years of being born. Breeding takes place in winter from January to March. After gestation of 61-63 days, 5 to 7 pups are born, each weighing about a pound.

Endangered.
