The Northern Rocky Mountain wolf (Canis lupus irremotus) is a subspecies of gray wolf native to the northern Rocky Mountains. They are light-colored, medium to large-sized subspecies with a narrow, flattened frontal bone.

Habitat:

The Northern Rocky Mountain wolves' original habitat extended from the Northern Rocky Mountains to Southern Alberta in Canada.

Characteristics:

The Northern Rocky Mountain wolves are light colored wolves of medium to large size, averaging from 85 to 115 pounds. The largest found on record was 145 pounds.

Diet:

The Northern Rocky Mountain wolves primarily preyed on bison, elks, moose, mule deer and beavers, though they are opportunistic animals and will prey upon other species if the chance arises.
