The Florida black wolf (Canis lupus floridanus), also known as the Florida wolf and the black wolf, is an extinct subspecies of gray wolf that lived in Florida.

Habitat:

Florida wolves were once found throughout the Pine Forests and prairie habitats in Florida and lived in small packs.

Characteristics:

Florida black wolves are a jet-black subspecies that is described as having been extremely same size as the red wolf in both size and weight, save for a patch or two of white on their chest and muzzle.

Diet:

Florida black wolves hunted in small packs like their northern cousins and most likely hunting preferred prey such as deer, raccoons, feral pigs and small game.

Breeding:

Unknown.

Status:

Extinct since 1934.
