"MA, PLEASE CAN YOU TURN MY LIGHT BACK ONNNN?"

"Wendy! Keep you voice down, Isaac is sleeping."

She frowned at her mother's telling off.

Something sour bubbled up inside her.

Isaac this Isaac that.

She didn't exist anymore.

Wendy used to be an only child.

Spoiled rotten.

Pampered.

Treated like a queen.

Her mother adored her.

But then her mother got pregnant.

And she was shoved into a corner.

Her toys were sold.

Her jewellery sold.

Her stuff all sold.

Wendy had eat less so her mum could afford to raise her little brother.

Her life was made hell.

She had to get her own money to pay for her food and to buy a phone.

She often stayed at friend's houses when there was no food at home.

They used to be well off but then her parents got divorced.

Her father payed lots of child support.

But then her mum spent it all on her brother.

Her mum didn't even eat, so desperate to care for her son.

She sacrificed everything for her little boy.

Including her relationship with her only daughter.

Everyone noticed.

School noticed.

Strangers notice.

Friends noticed.

Relatives noticed.

School kept her for clubs to help her out.

Put her on the children in need list because her mother refused to pay for her lunch.

Friends always invited her around.

Relatives invited her to sleepovers with their children.

Strangers were kind to her.

It made her resent her brother.

Her voice of reason always told her that he didn't ask to be born and that it really wasn't his fault.

But she wanted someone to blame.

It's human nature to want to blame something/someone when something goes wrong.

She couldn't bear to just blame her mother.

It was unfair to her.

It really was.

Her mother wouldn't even do something so simple as turn a light switch for her.

Wendy needed to leave that house immediately.

Hogwarts was her saviour.

Signing off, Rose.
