CHAPTER FORTY-ONE
Loki groaned softly as he sank into McKenna, his head coming to rest on her breast, his heart racing hard enough that the vibration beat through her as well. He wasn't the only one breathless or with a racing heart, and she smiled as she wrapped her arms around him and let her fingers skim lightly over his hair. "Oh, Loki..." she whispered, her head spinning so hard, she had to close her eyes because she was afraid she'd pass out otherwise.
"Indeed..." he whispered, out of breath as he lifted his head. His lips brushed hers and when she opened her eyes, she found him gazing down at her with a smile playing at his lips and his eyes hovering between blue and green.
With a playful, if breathless growl, he caught her and rolled to pull her atop him. As her hair spilled forward over her shoulder, he curved his hand against her cheek and pulled her down to meet his lips once more. He kissed her with a slow, teasing thoroughness, his free hand skimming along over the curve of her backside, that arm easing about her waist to hold her tight against him.
The sheet twisted about her, but she didn't care as she lost herself in his kiss. How was it possible that she could want him so much only minutes after he collapsed into her? How was it he could want her just as badly as well?
He broke the kiss, whispering, "Oh, Midgardian, what you do to me..." even as his lips brushed hers.
She smiled down at him. "Makes us even, then," she whispered back. "Because you do some pretty amazing things to me, you know."
His eyes sparkled with emerald fire. "Is that so?"
"You have to know by now it is."
He tugged her back for another deep kiss, his tongue thrusting between her lips to capture hers and tease it as he rolled and this time pinned her beneath him.
God, she loved moments like this-when he wrapped all around her and she did the same to him, when it truly was making love. These were the moments when she found it all so difficult to reconcile this Loki with the one who once tried to conquer Earth, when she found it so hard to believe the man who touched her with such gentle, tender hands was the same one who coldly flipped that scientist in Stuttgart onto a sacrificial altar and gouged out one of his eyes for his own gain. That the man who murmured words of love in her ear was the same one who demanded a hundred people kneel before him.
That the man who led an alien army invasion of New York City was the same one who now swept his lips along her neck, toward her ear, and murmured, "I love you, darling girl."
She smiled as he nuzzled her, lightly scratching her fingernails down his back. "Oh, I love you, too, Jötunn."
He pulled back, his gaze locking with hers as he eased his thigh between hers, solid and muscled, and he slid one hand over her ribs to cup her left breast. Fire shot through her at his touch and she couldn't hold back her gasp when his thumb brushed her nipple. He laughed softly in the back of his throat, teasing her with another slow rotation, and pulled away to smoke a kiss down along her neck.
She opened her eyes, smiling as she threaded her fingers through his hair. He kissed his way down over the rise of that breast and she sighed low as his tongue replaced his thumb. Heady pleasure stole through her, gaining momentum with each swirl, each teasing flick. "Loki..." she moaned, twisting her fingers in the silky black waves, her back arching to meet each hot caress.
He flicked the tip of his tongue against her and she sucked in another breath, exhaling in a long, shuddery sigh as he did it again and again. Heat swirled through her, molten and slow, and her head fairly spun from the pleasure eddying through her blood.
