After months of being influenced and hurt by a mysterious being from an alternate universe, Espio the Chameleon Chaotix Detective has finally confronted his emotions that he has felt for his best friend, Silver the Hedgehog, time traveler, who had come to love the Ultimate Lifeform himself, Shadow the Hedgehog. Espio had been taken by this mysterious being who has it out for Shadow, teaming with the darkness that lurks in the shadows to take both Silver and Shadow down for good while breaking their reptilian friend.
Meanwhile, Knuckles has conflicting emotions about the blue hero, Sonic the Hedgehog, in denial that he should even have such love for him, thinking he didn't deserve the same, Sonic trying to convince Knuckles otherwise.
