What if the people around you- from your classmates to your best friend- were hiding their true feelings behind their smiles? And you found out?

Abbie Lee used to think that her life was perfect. She had supportive parents, a best friend who had her back and a tentative boyfriend too.

But her once flawless life comes crumbling down when she gets a high fever and falls unconscious. She wakes up a few hours later with the ability to hear the thoughts of the people around her and they were not what she expected. Smiles turn out to be masks. True feelings are revealed. Feelings are hurt.

Add Benson Chang into the equation. He's a new student. Abbie is given the job to show him around and that's when she notices that she can't hear his thoughts. Wanting to know why, she begins to pay attention to him....

Follow Abbie as she deals with the truth behind her friends' smiles and as she tries to find out why Benson is different from everyone else.

Not everyone who walk together reaches the destination together. Sometimes, one is left behind. Sometimes, one has to break to complete the other. Silence is love's faithful companion. Love is nothing unless felt. It shows its presence silently, waiting patiently, lurking in the shadows of hearts. All this while, the silence as its faithful companion, holds its hand and bears every sigh, every torment, every skip of a heartbeat, every joy, and every glance with it. They complete each other and yet they don't, for love demands recognition. It requires confirmation and when the love has reached its peak, it pushes the silence down. Breaks it, steps over it, and shouts to the whole world the tale of its existence. And silence, it smiles watching the whole scene. But as it is said, silence in itself is the loudest cry. "I'll always love you too, Kayla," he said smiling at me and I placed my head on his shoulder. We sat in silence with our hearts at peace and filled with content. Can silence speak? Had someone asked me this question before I would never have been able to answer the question. But at this moment I knew the answer. Yes, silence can speak. It can talk volumes. Silence is the loudest music there is. If you listen carefully, you can hear each and every secret of the universe, every story that has ever been told from the beginning of time, every promise made to one another whispered swiftly into your ear. This silence was being the witness to the promise we made to each other. Kayla is a sweet, fun-loving girl. She has a huge crush on her friend. Aaron returns to school after two years. Her heart gets broken only to be put together again. She gave up on love only to find it again in one person she least expected from. She will find love where she least expects it from. "I knew if I wanted a relationship, I should find someone else. But I didn't want anyone else and I still don't." I managed to take his arm from around my waist without waking him up. Sighing with relief I was about to move closer to the edge of the bed but he grabbed me again, muttering something in his half asleep state. I tried to release his grip again but he woke up, grinning as soon as he seen me. His sleepy blue eyes looked at me. "Where are you going?" his grin widened. "I have to go." I whispered quietly, looking around the room. I really did have to go, I was supposed to be staying away from him wasn't I? The sun hadn't come up yet, it was still in the early hours of the morning. "Don't go." He groaned, pulling me in closer and squeezed my waist. I could sense his smile as he kissed my forehead. I didn't know what to do, his arms were more than inviting and I really didn't need a lot of convincing but I was starting to get tired of this secret thing again. Sure, Eric and I got along great, I really enjoyed his company but was it really worth lying to everyone about? *************** What happens when wallflower Florence and jock Eric decide to keep what's between them a secret? Can Florence really not get herself too attached and keep herself from getting hurt? The two are keeping some secrets of their own too, will they ever be discovered? As time goes by, it becomes harder and harder to hide it all, will they eventually crack?
