The Next Day( Day 3):
5:00 A.M
Mia's POV:
I wake up a hour earlier than expected. I barely slept. After morning PT yesterday, the rest of the day was a blur. The PT in the afternoon got cancelled, so I practically had nothing to do. After 5 minutes of contemplating if I should try to go back to sleep or get up, I decide just to wake up. I turn off my alarm. I decide to go change into my gym clothes and go for a run. I end up changing my mind and go to the gym. Practically, it was a room with equipment. The junior agents just started, so no one really had came into this room. I just start doing random exercises in random orders. I did this for about a half hour. At 5:40, I leave the gym and go to my room. To be honest, I went to Mom's room, but she was sleeping and I didn't want to wake her up. Is it so hard to find some private time to talk with your mom? Apparently it is. Once I am in my room, I go to take a shower. It's 6:03 when I come out. I decide to go wake up Anja, who is sleeping peacefully like a 2 month old baby. I tickle her on her stomach, so she would be more annoyed.
"Mia! Stop!" she says, pushing my arms away. I start giggling.
"Stop laughing!" she says. Her face is all red from embarrassment.
"Fine! I was just trying to wake you up."
"Aren't there any OTHER ways of waking me up?"
"Yes, but I didn't want to use them." I smirk.
She gives me her annoyed look.
"Why are you dressed? It's only 6:05 and class is at 7."
"I woke up at 5 and went to the gym. I was sweaty, so I took a shower and changed my clothes." I summarized.
"Ok. And you didn't wake up at 5 because you were internally panicking about the assignment?" she asked.
"Fine! I was panicking a little bit."
She gives me a face.
"Okay... I was panicking a lot. But I just don't want Luke to reveal my secret!"
"Look, you got into the FBI with it. So what's the problem?"
"I guess you are right." I say, sighing.
Anja walks into the shower. I go open up my drawer and take out a necklace. I normally don't wear it because I feel embarrassed about the fact it had a unicorn on it, but I felt like wearing it. I sat back down on my bed.

Flashback:
5 years ago in Oakland
7 year old Mia was sitting on her bed. She was upset at the fact that she had lost a dance competition.
Mike's POV:
I stood outside the door and watched my daughter sit on her bed, all sad. I walk in and sit right beside her.
"Hey sweet pea, why are you sulking?"
She gives me a look and says, "How am I supposed to know what sulking means?"
I smile to myself thinking how crazy I was for expecting a 7 year old to know what sulking means.
"It means sad."
"You already know. We lost!" she says in her sweet, innocent voice.
"You know, sometimes when you want to win, you have to lose."
"Why does that sound like a Bollywood movie dialogue in English?"
I start laughing and say, "Maybe because it is." I knew which movie she was talking about. Alex and Mia had watched it multiple times, while I was trying to understand what they were saying by reading the subtitles.
"Have you ever lost?" she asks, again showing innocence in her voice.
"Yes."
"To who?"
"Multiple people. But mainly your mother."
"How?"
"One time we were working on a case. Your mother had just had a miscarriage. And someone gave an offer that the witness gets to go to his home country in exchange for the person who caused the miscarriage's location. Everyone thought that it was the best deal. I didn't. But after an agent got shot, they all decided to take the deal. So practically I lost."
She gives a small smile.
"I am coming in a minute." I say and walk out of the room. I go into Alex and my bedroom and grab out a necklace. It had a unicorn on it. Mia had wanted it, but I said no. I still secretly bought it and was planning on giving it to her in a few days as a surprise. I walk back into her bedroom. I hand her the necklace. She squeals in excitement and gives me a big hug.
"Thank you Daddy!"
I give her a kiss on the top of her head.
"Goodnight sweetie."
"Goodnight Daddy."
I tuck her into her bed and leave the room.
While walking out, I see Alex standing outside the door. She was smiling. I give her a kiss.
"You know, I don't need to worry about anything if I have you." she says.
"I have loved you since the minute you were in the hospital because of that TB case."
"Come on let's go to bed." she says.
End of Flashback

Back to present day:
I play with my necklace and end up watching a few video of me and my dad from earlier. I quickly turn them off when I hear Anja coming out of the shower.
"You ready?" I ask.
She nods her head.
I notice we still have a half hour till class. Anja and I just start talking about random stuff.
Hey everyone! Sorry for the late update. As I mentioned in the previous chapter, my internet has been acting up. I hope you liked this chapter. This one was just a sweet father-daughter chapter. I kind of wanted to show the caring side of Mike since the show doesn't really show that. Plus events from season 3 episode 11 show up. The next one will most probably be the assignment. Keep on enjoying this story.
