I was almost ready to go when I realized that I didn't have a ride. I couldn't ride with André because he probably didn't have a ride either since he rode a bike.

I paced around the room a bit until I heard someone knock on my door.

"Zane, it's me. I'm coming in," She simply opened the door and entered. Privacy be damned. Permission, who? She didn't wait. Well, at least she announced her entry, so that must've counted for something.

"What do you want?" I asked with dismay. "I'm trying to think of a way to go to the party."

"And this is why I'm here," She beamed. "Catch." She threw something jingly at me. Upon a little of examination, I realized it was her car keys.

"Wait. Are you serious?" I was genuinely surprised. She didn't even let me breathe next to her car, not to mention drive it. "I can drive it to the party?"

"Of course, not!" She swatted away the keys from my hand. I knew it was too good to be true. But then I noticed something else. She was dressed, too.

"Why are you all dressed up?" She couldn't possibly be serious. There had to be a catch somewhere. My sister didn't just happen to do me favours. She had a price for everything.

"I'm not gonna let you take my car," She paused. "But, I am gonna drive you there,"

"Better than nothi-" She cocked her eyebrow at me. "I mean, thanks, sister dear. I owe you,"

"That you do," She grinned mischievously. "I need a painting for my art project and I suck, so you're helping,"

"Of course. Anything."

"Great. Now let's go," she said, turning on her heels and going downstairs. I followed her soon after. I texted André, telling him to be ready in five.

I hopped in the passenger seat and slowly, the car turned to life. She quickly slapped my hand when I reached for the radio. "I have a headache, so don't even try putting on your shitty music,"

"My music isn't shitty,"

"Not the point."

"Fine."

We reached André's house in no time. He was already standing outside waiting impatiently. A chocolate bar was being murdered as he munched it feverishly. How did he not gain weight was beyond me.

"Hey Zane," André cheered. "Hey Zane's sister! It's been a while, how have you been?" He spoke from his seat in the back.

"Hey André! Yeah it's been. Just school," My sister loved André. Everyone loved André, to be honest. He was the better, more cheerful friend. Better looking, too.

"Cool Cool," he grabbed my shoulders from behind and pulled me into my seat. "So, are you ready to par-tay?"

"If you mean by ready 'can't wait for it to be over' then yes, I'm ready,"

"Good enough for me," I swore André was the happiest person on earth. I couldn't even act as cheerful as he always was.

It took us a while to get there and I was surprised that my sister knew where, Madeline lived.

"Stalker much?" She whacked my shoulder immediately.

"I was friends with her older sister, so shut up, kindly."

I could hear the thuds of the music all the way from my seat in the car. I could even feel my head starting to form a minor headache in the back.

Why did I even agree to do this?

André was already out of the car and waiting for me. I opened the door as slowly as possible and climbed out. I closed it and started towards the house when my sister called out behind me.

"Hey Zane," I leant over the window "Woo him!" she winked at me and drove away. What the fuck.

"Let's go man!" André literally grabbed my arm and dragged me in. He couldn't wait to try the food.

The music got louder and louder as we approached, but it didn't seem like it was crowded, so that was good, at least.

It was not supposed to be crowded, anyway, since the invites were very exclusive, which made me wondering why I was invited in the first place. It felt off.

When we entered, the house had about twenty people. It was a big house, possibly one of the biggest houses around town. The furniture looked pretty luxurious and expensive, too. They must've been doing pretty well financially.

"Zane! You made it!" Madeline cheered fakely through the crowd. Why was she so happy to see me? We weren't even friends.

It wasn't sitting right with me. Something was definitely wrong here. Before I even said anything, she shoved a drink in my hand. "Here try this! I mixed it myself!" She said with even more cheer than André had.

"Um okay, thanks" I said in an attempt to make her leave, but she seemed like she wasn't going to before I tasted her drink. Which I did. A little tangy but it tasted good. Fruity with slight bitterness. I liked it.

I looked around for André but he was nowhere to be seen. And so was Gavin. I couldn't find him anywhere. Not that I was looking for him. I wasn't. Really.

I found myself sipping the drink without even noticing. Its sweetness was kinda addicting. After just this one drink, I was already feeling a little tipsy.
