"Why naman ganon! Nagtatampo pa rin ba siya?"

"Ask him, babe," Reeve said, kissing me on my temple.

"E... nagtatampo nga," isinubo ko ang itinapat ni Reeve na nachos sa labi ko. "Nung nagkita naman kami, okay lang siya, ah. Bakit ayaw na akong pansinin ngayon?"

Reeve gave me barbecues in a stick. He smiled when I took it and immediately ate some barbecue meat and chewed it.

"You can't blame him. Andrew lost his favorite person and bestfriend when you left without saying goodbye," saad niya.

"Is he really mad?" sinubukan kong itago ang lungkot sa boses ko kaso 'di ko kinaya. "Kasalanan ko naman talaga. Naiintindihan ko rin kung bakit."

I reached for a can of beer and handed it to Reeve. He shook his head and instead grabbed the buko juice I placed at the table and drank from it.

"Andrew isn't mad. He just misses you. Nagtatampo lang 'yun, e hindi naman gwapo."

Loko. Reeve chuckled when I punched him lightly.

It feels illegal to be sad because I'm the one who left them without saying a single goodbye. Naglaho na lang kami ni Tatay na parang bula kaya naiintindihan ko kung bakit galit si Andrew.

I stared at Reeve when he made me eat another piece of nachos. All of a sudden, I felt guilty so I looked away and shifted on my seat uncomfortably. Nahalata agad ni Reeve ang inakto ko.

"There's something bothering you," it wasn't a question. Natahimik ako.

My lips parted when Reeve put down his drink and held the back of my knees, pulling me closer until we're close enough. Hinawakan niya ang kamay ko.

"Can you tell me what it is so I'll figure out how to help?" His voice was soothing.

But I refused to look at him.

"Babe?"

"I'm sorry," I whispered.

"What are you saying sorry for?"

"For breaking your heart. For lying to you. For telling you to find another woman when I broke up with you. For delaying my confession about your fatherhood when we met again. And for..." sinapo ko ang pisngi niya. I shook my head and inhaled. "Forgive me for not saying how much I love you before you took your flight to Switzerland six years ago."

Reeve didn't say anything. I know he wants to let me finish before he talks.

"We've talked about this already. But I want to let you know that I'm trying to make up for my shortcomings to you as much as I can."

Memories of out past came back. Every blurred lines cleared up. I tried to stop myself from crying.

"We both had our fair share of shortcomings. Don't own it. It's not all on you," Reeve leaned back and stared at me longer than necessary.

"But I–"

"Look at us now, love. Your sacrifice paid off," Reeve muttered, sounding serious.

"Did it?" I tried to smile while he plays with my fingers.

"You're so selfless," Reeve whispered something that wasn't clear to me.
