Pronunciations

Isla's character often gets mispronounced and I've been asked about her name a few times now. Since she is an added character of mine, I understand the confusion. Here's how to correctly pronounce Isla incase you were confused :)

ISLA - /ˈaɪlə/ EYE-lə

or

Eye - La

Think Island, without the D. The S in Isla and Island is silent

During Lunch

Y/N: And the way he just asked you to leave in the middle of our conversation
ISLA: Well he was right, we did have a project to do
Y/N: Yes but...

Y/N: Oh I don't know, he just gets me so worked up

I say huffing and letting out an angered sigh

ISLA: How so?

I shrug

Isla and I sat at the dining hall eating our lunches. She had her blonde hair pulled back with a black ribbon. I did the same with a dark grey ribbon. It was quite nice during this time of day at Hogwarts.

ISLA: I thought you guys were getting closer, I saw you watch the comet with him last night
Y/N: He seems to think so too

I said rolling my eyes

ISLA: You know I can't understand how you two managed get so much work done with all that bickering
Y/N: Well he's smart, there's no denying that
ISLA: True
Y/N: But he's so confusing. I don't like the fact that every time we speak he always brings up the "you're a Slytherin" comments. It's honestly getting tiring at this point and I can't be friends with people who have no intention of accepting me, regardless of my house

Isla took a few bites out of her pear before looking back at my direction

ISLA: Understandable, but I'm not lying when I say he's a nice guy, you guys just need to talk things out

Y/N: I'd rather not, if he wants to be friends so bad then he should be the bigger person and apologize so we can move past this

She nodded. We sat in silence for a while just taking small bites of our food

ISLA: Before I forget, the Ravenclaw team is up against Hufflepuff today, wanna go watch?

And see Cedric again? No thanks

Y/N: No, I think I'm gonna skip the game today. I still have my half of the project left to do
ISLA: Oh, I see...

I smiled at her with a reassuring look

Y/N: You know you can go without me right? I'm probably going to stay in the Library and do some research for my work

ISLA: But it wouldn't be fun without you
Y/N: I'd hate for you to accompany me to the Library only to bore yourself
ISLA: Of course, libraries are boring. What do you expect?
Y/N: There's plenty of quidditch games for me to attend now that I'm here. I need to focus on my grades, my Mom's going to want to see to it that my studies are going well
ISLA: I know I know.. I just thought it'd be fun if you could tag along
