Y/N's POV
___________________________________
ISLA: I'm gonna go try to get a spot next to Ron, wish me luck!
Y/N: Good luck!

I said with a smile on my face.

Everyone else seemed so excited to watch this comet that I didn't even get a chance to ask someone to watch it with me. Harry, Ginny, Isla, Ron, Hermione, and even Draco we're all already together with someone ready to watch the comet. I felt a little out of place.
Being the new girl meant making new friends on your own. It was especially hard at Hogwarts as a 4th year new student. These kids have known each other for so long now, I don't know how many people would be willing to make room for me in their groups.
I stood at a corner where I wouldn't be bothering anyone and decided to watch the comet myself as I kept thinking to myself.

I could feel a shadow surfacing next to me. A tall figure walked towards me, and I felt a cool breeze in my hair. The windows were open and I could smell a soft woodsy smell traveling through the air below my nose. It was a nice fresh scent.
Finally the figure stopped next to me

CEDRIC: Quiet night, huh?

As I slowly turned around. I looked up to see none other than Cedric Diggory
When we met eyes he had an expression of shock written all over his face. I kept my gaze on him only to see his ears turn red and his cheeks glowing of embarrassment.
I didn't want want to make things more awkward and answer the question so I simply looked away.

CEDRIC: Uh- Y/N! I didn't know it was you, sorry
Y/N: ... it's fine

He didn't have to apologize, it's not like I bite. Why would he be scared to stand next to me? Am I really that awful to him?

He quickly turned around to walk away

I realized in that moment that I probably wasn't the nicest to him tonight. He had just scored Hufflepuff a win in quidditch and invited me to his party. What kind of person would I be to turn my back on him. Maybe Isla was right. Cedric Diggory isn't a bad person, otherwise he wouldn't be liked by so many. Maybe I'm the problem. If I hadn't been so sensitive maybe we would get along.

Y/N: Cedric wait

He paused to look back at me.

CEDRIC: Yes?
Y/N: Do you want to watch the comet with me?

He was now staring at me blankly
Ugh damn it Y/N, you should've just let him be.
Why would Cedric of all people want to watch the comet with me? What was I thinking?

Y/N: Forget I even asked, you seem a little uncomfortable
I tried to laugh it off hoping he'd walk away

CEDRIC: Why should I forget it?
Y/N: Well I mean you didn't seem so thrilled when I asked so
CEDRIC: Ya, well I was just confused and a little caught off guard to be honest
Y/N: It's fine, go find your friends... I'll just be here
CEDRIC: You weren't planning on watching alone, right?
Y/N: Ya, actually I was
CEDRIC: How come? You have Isla
Y/N: No, I don't wanna cling on to her all the time and lose the only friend I've made here so far
CEDRIC: She's not the only friend you made, you have Harry and the others
CEDRIC: Heck you even managed to become close to Malfoy

I let out a laugh

Y/N: I wouldn't really call Malfoy a friend, more like a friendly acquaintance
CEDRIC: That's a friend
Y/N: Well whatever it is, they're all busy if you couldn't tell
CEDRIC: I'm not busy

We both stopped and met eyes once again.

Y/N: What are you suggesting?
CEDRIC: If your offer still stands I'd like to accept
Y/N: How come?
CEDRIC: Well you said you didn't have someone to watch with, and since I'm free, why not watch with me?
Y/N: Oh so you only want to accept the offer because you're free
CEDRIC: That's not what I meant
Y/N: Then what did you mean?
CEDRIC: I don't know, Y/N. It's so difficult to express my words the right way to you
Y/N: ... I feel the same way
CEDRIC: You do?
Y/N: Yes. I never know what to say to you. We haven't been the best of friends but you also haven't done anything wrong to me so I'm not so sure how to feel about you

We both sighed and laughed knowing that the feeling was mutual.

CEDRIC: Well if you don't mind, I'd like to start over
Y/N: I'd like that
CEDRIC: Good because we have a project due soon and I can't have my partner hating me
Y/N: Ugh I almost forgot about that

Just then Fred and George spoke up

FRED: Okay party people, it's 11:59!
GEORGE: In just 60 seconds, our comet should be passing over Hogwarts!
HERMIONE: This comet is called the Dreamer's comet everybody! And did you know that if you make a wish while the comet passes over you, it may come true?!
FRED: Thanks Hermione.. for that fascinating detail
GEORGE: Ya, we'll make sure to hire you for stuff like this soon!

Hermione rolled her eyes and Fred gave her a joking wink

The crowd laughed as the excited whispers filled the room

CEDRIC: Are you planning on making a wish?

Before I could answer I saw a twinkle in the sky from the corner of my eye

I tapped Cedric's shoulder and pointed at the stars

Y/N: Look! There it goes!
CEDRIC: It's so bright!

I looked over at Cedric and saw the stars reflecting in his big eyes. He then closed his eyes and opened them seconds later

Y/N: Did you make a wish?
CEDRIC: Did you?
Y/N: I didn't get to, it happened so quick
CEDRIC: It's just a silly legend, don't worry
Y/N: Well we don't know that
CEDRIC: I guess

FRED: Okay ladies and gentlemen, party's over! You may all QUIETLY make your way back to your dorms.
GEORGE: Make sure to not get caught!
FRED: Harry! Use the map and guide everyone out of here
GEORGE: Thank you for coming everyone! Make sure to greet the host on the way out

Cedric turned his attention to me

CEDRIC: I should probably go and say bye to everyone
Y/N: Ya, go ahead
CEDRIC: I'll um... see you later?
Y/N: Ya. See you later

He walked off waving to me one last time. I stood there a little dumbfounded. Cedric Diggory was not who I thought he was. I was wrong to judge him. But I can't get carried away. We're not friends, not yet at least. I still have to keep my guard up.

Later that night, back at the Slytherin dorm rooms....
____________

ISLA: Ah.. what a night
Y/N: Tell me about it
ISLA: Did anything interesting happen while I was gone?
Y/N: Ya.. I kinda watched the Dreamer's comet with Cedric

Isla let out a scream
ISLA: What? Cedric Diggory! Girl you are so lucky
Y/N: It's not that big of a deal, we just happened to be there at the same place and time
ISLA: There you go again
ISLA: When will you stop pretending you hate him
Y/N: I don't hate him
ISLA: You guys made up?
Y/N: I don't know, we just agreed to start over
ISLA: Good, I was getting tired of whatever you two had going on

Isla said as she dressed into her pajamas. I got into bed feeling like I just got a weight off my chest.

Y/N: Goodnight, Isla
ISLA: Sleep tight!

My eyes slowly shut by themselves and before I knew it I peacefully fell into a deep sleep, after a long night.
