Part Eleven ~ Banter

CEDRIC: I'll ask again. What are you doing in my room?

Y/N: ...

How do I even begin to answer that?

CEDRIC: I'm waiting

Y/N: I don't know! I didn't know this was your room. I just walked in to the first room I saw and it's not my fault it was unlocked. If you didn't want anyone in here you should've kept it locked!

I half shouted at him

CEDRIC: Alright calm down, I'm not mad or anything... you just caught me by surprise
Y/N: Well so did you
CEDRIC: I know

Y/N: I'm really sorry, I should go. I promise I didn't touch anything here
CEDRIC: .. It's okay. Again, I'm not mad
Y/N: You're not?
CEDRIC: No

That's a relief. I still feel bad though. I hope he didn't think I was lurking around or trying to invade his privacy.

CEDRIC: So uh... what brings you here anyway?

Y/N: Well you see, it's a funny story. The new student who transferred this morning found me in the library and claimed to be friends with you and told me that I was basically a stick in the mud who didn't know how to have fun and he suggested we come here to the Hufflepuff common room because a few people were gonna gather since you won again and -

CEDRIC: You're rambling

I let out a breath and sighed

Y/N: Sorry I just thought if I explained everything you wouldn't get the wrong idea. I swear I wasn't snooping.
CEDRIC: I believe you
Y/N: You do?
CEDRIC: Ya.. that sounds like something Miles would do
Y/N: Oh so you guys are friends?
CEDRIC: Ya, something like that

We both looked away and it was beginning to get a little awkward now. Well it was awkward to begin with but now..

Y/N: So...
CEDRIC: So.
Y/N: I like your room. You know, books and things. Real nice collection you got here.
CEDRIC: Thanks, I have a lot of time to myself after I'm done with studying so it's nice to pick up a good book here and there

Y/N: Ya I totally understand. I haven't gotten around to reading much here yet but I did find this cool new book at the library today. Well actually it's not new. In fact it's really old. So old that the pages were practically all falling off. I should've left it where it was but it looked very interesting so I picked it up.

I'm doing it again. Rambling. It's not how I normally talk but I just needed to distract him from the fact that he found me in his room.

CEDRIC: Uh okay, that's cool I guess. Books are interesting no matter how old they are
Y/N: Exactly! Glad you understand.
CEDRIC: Ya
Y/N: Congrats on your second win by the way. Back to back, that's pretty impressive

He snickers and displays a shy grin

CEDRIC: Thanks, I'm kinda starting to get the hang of the whole seeker position
Y/N: That's great. I'll uh see you tomorrow in class.

CEDRIC: You're not staying? The teams about to hangout now, Miles told you right?
Y/N: Yes, he did. But I should get back and finish my half of the project - I mean I'm almost done though, so don't worry!

He chuckled at my sudden reassurance

CEDRIC: It's okay, take you time
Y/N: Thanks
CEDRIC: My work will ensure a good grade anyway, so you don't have to stress yourself too much
Y/N: That doesn't mean I'm not gonna put any effort into it
CEDRIC: I know that, I'm just letting you know you can take it easy, it is your first project here. And lucky you, I'm your partner so you'll do well regardless.
Y/N: Please, I could do the whole thing by myself if I wanted and still get an A+ without your help

I say with my hands on my hips. I'm not gonna lie it hurt my ego when he told me to take it easy. Does he not think I'm capable of doing my work the right way?

Y/N: Goodbye, Cedric. The next time you see me I'll be standing with our project in hand worthy of that A+ I promised.

CEDRIC: Haha, alright see you tomorrow, Y/N.

I ran out of his room and I could still hear him laughing to himself.

I ran past Miles before he stopped me

MILES: Woah, where are you going?
Y/N: Back to the Slytherin common room. I need to get my work done
MILES: But you didn't get a chance to enjoy yourself
Y/N: Oh trust me, I've had enough enjoyment for the day
MILES: Well, I guess I'll see you around then
Y/N: Ya. I guess so

I kept running ahead, it was getting late and Isla would be looking for me.

I should tell her about what happened today. She'd wanna hear about this.

I turned the corner and made my way up the stairs. The door to my room is already open. I can hear Isla humming something

I walk in and let myself catch my breath.

ISLA: Oh there you are.
Y/N: Hey
ISLA: What happened, where did you go? You're out of breath
Y/N: A lot. Sit down, I'll fill you in

MILES: Oh hey, Ced!
CEDRIC: Long time no see
MILES: Tell me about it, how've you been man!
CEDRIC: Fine
MILES: That's good to hear
CEDRIC: I thought you said you were coming in next week
MILES: Ya well, sudden change of plans
CEDRIC: I see
MILES: Hey do you feel hot or something?
CEDRIC: Huh? What are you talking about?
MILES: Your face is really red
