"Come in..." My brow quircked on hearing a low, boring and exasperated voice coming past the cabin door to my boss's office. Okay, someone needs to eat something!

I walk in to see the chair moving back and forth, and it's owner was just gazing at the now brightening city lights. He must've been really upset after the way things ended and me being totally aloof, not even letting him know that I was okay. I feel a pang of guilt on ignoring a simple fact that I should've at least texted him I wasn't coming to office today. This brings me the realisation that I'm seriously loosing touch on my professionalism.

"Caleb.." He left his seat like it was burning and literally ran towards me, engulfing me in his ever so tight arms.

"Where have you been? I was so worried about you. I'm so sorry for everything, I should've--"

"Caleb it's okay! I'm not mad at you." I manage to say when he pulled back searching my face to which I just gave a small smile.

"Wait... I know if a girl smiles when she's angry, it's the ultimate doom for the guy who made her angry. Right?" This guy won't let you be mad even for a complete 24hours. I chuckled punching his arm as we hugged again.

"Seriously, it's okay. I understand." I said as we made our way to sit on the chairs in front of his desk.

"The way my mom treated you was..." He left a deep sigh before hanging his head low.

"Look she's a mother, she's right on her place to care for her forcefully retarded daughter--"

"What did you just say?" I bite my tongue on realising what had just slipped out of it. His eyebrows furrows together while his eyes widened in disbelief.

"I'm sorry. Daniel told me everything." I informed as he rolled his eyes shaking his head.

"Oh, so that's how he mentioned my sister."

"No no no! I did, I mean...I didn't mean it like that, but--" I was cut off mid sentence by his finger on my lips.

"Relax! I'm sorry I wasn't able to tell you this myself. It's just so messed up and it's all about my step father and sister, and we tried to keep you out of this but God just suddenly made you pop out of nowhere." This really is a strange coincidence. And at the same time I think, this was super necessary for me to pop in and take Daniel out of this mess that I'm indirectly responsible for.

"So you don't like me being here?" He shook his head furiously.

"Nooo! I love that you're here, I love to have a friend like you. Daniel did mention you were so special for him, and I've seen exactly why he said it." Being the CFO was Caleb's one job, and making me laugh and blush was other.

"So, since all's nicely messed up with your mom and Emily knowing I'm your friend, where does this bring us?"

"I didn't even know mom knew about you, and in this worst way. But, don't worry about her, all we need to do is stop my step father." He says leaning back on his seat.

"From doing what?"

"There's a party tomorrow at one of the hotels he owns, where he's gonna declare Emily the heir to his business and property." I don't know why this was strange, exciting, thrilling, devastating, shocking, and I don't even know what kind of emotions I was feeling, but they were enough to show all of them clearly on my face as I saw this man laughing at me. My eyes were widened and I knew I must look like an emoji.

"What's the matter?" He said leaning forward still smiling. I swallowed the news he just laid and the fact that this might have major consequences on Daniel.
