*Daniel's perspective*

"How did you even know I was going to meet him?" Dad asked as he sits across me on the couch in the living room.

"I didn't. Can't say if it was my good luck that she lives near that restaurant, or it was your bad luck that you have to choose the same for your meet." I say looking at him. He narrows his eyes at me before realisation dawns upon him.

"Who is she? Were you with her the whole day?"

"Except morning and noon."

"Dan, I asked something." He said in a serious tone.

"I don't like anyone, yet. I'm afraid I'll start to." A smile made its way on face thinking about Lorraine. I don't know what made me so want to see her again after our bumping into each other near McD, but I just couldn't wipe her face off my mind.

I've never dated after college, and it was never serious before. Even after I got to work with dad, I've met numerous women, business people in meetings here and abroad, but I wonder why I never got attracted to their curves and cleavage, instead it just took a hoodie, shorts and clumsiness to infatuate me. I still remember her angry face which would have made me laugh if I was in a good mood. It was the cutest expression a girl could wear, she could wear.

Thinking of how she didn't hesitate to lend me her last bandage, her kindness was an add on. She is not only beautiful, but kind and innocent, no wonder she must make a good nurse. I feel like I would do anything to protect her.

There's no doubt in saying she's the most gorgeous lady on land, and I feel myself honoured to have spent time with her, kissed her luscious lips. Her presence has sent a spark of affection, I had long forgotten resided in me.

"Yeah, your smile explains a lot. What about the company?" Dad breaks through into my thoughts bringing me back to earth.

"I've decided to take all the projects we've either kept on hold or discarded."

"Why the discarded ones?"

"I'm still going through it and if we find something useful, we can put it back on working stage."

"And what if we don't find anything?"

"Seeing the downfall of our shares, I guess we can cope up with it for two years at most."

"And for two years we do nothing? Dan, I've raised this company like my own child, I don't want it to degrade in loss--"

"Dad, I understand. And I'll do everything I can, just trust me."

"Why don't you just accept Nathan's offer? You might even be able to take over his business in future..."

"That's only possible if I marry his daughter. I've done some homework in the morning, turns out Nathan Roosevelt is a member of the mafia." I see the subtle expression on Dad's face turn into terror. His eyes widen and his jaw must've almost hit the carpet.

"What?" He almost screams, resonating in the living room.

"Do you wanna invite mom to hear our conversation here?" I sneer looking upstairs. Mom had just went to bed for her usual reading routine, and then as her old habit, she would fall asleep with a book still in her hand.

"He's a criminal?" He asked crouching next to me. I wish if his curiousity have had been at its best before, he would never have to approach Nathan in the first place.

"Not sure about that, but his hands have the dirt of underworld since many years. I guess that's where Emily's behaviour comes from."

"Why didn't I know it before?"
