Red sun mourning,
A poet's warningA ghastly dance in fire
Oh, hear Mother Earth's ireThe wine sun turns the day
Watch how nature lies in disarrayAnd see how the smokey sky rises
Hiding men in ash disguisesThe ruby sun burns
Behind smoke plumes
And perhaps
Mother Earth
She learnsAuthor's note: I had this idea during wildfire season here on the west coast of the US. The poem is inspired by the line "red sky in morning, sailor's warning." The length of the lines follows the sun through the sky, starting short, getting longer, then shorter again with sunrise, moon, and sunset.
